This complaint is specifically for 343i. Hopefully they actually read this.
I’m a long time halo fan. I remember camping outside game stop for the original halo to come out. I even remember the day Xbox live went live. I was there for those historic events. Leading up to halo 5 i bought every halo and every special edition that came out along with all downloadable content. I even bought any controller and special edition console. I was all about halo. What drew me to the halo series was the co-op split-screen and offline multiplayer. Why you may ask. I enjoy playing offline as I mostly play with friends that live close by and we would have halo gaming nights. we would even rent a gaming bus that had enough copies of the game and consoles that we could do lan parties. Now we are at halo 5 first halo to offer none of this and I feel I have been cheated. To be forced to play online and pay for Xbox live is to take away my freedom and my rights, such as my right to have a voice and have a choice, but now i no longer have a choice of who I play with and now if I want to play with real life friends they have to bring there own console, games and a television just so we can play and even then we are limited to only campaign if we want to play only with each other. 343i if this is not resolved you will lose a long time halo fan over a simple fix. I am highly disappointed in this call of duty rip off that is being called halo. The worst part of this 343i is the amount of disappointed halo fans near me is quite a lot and the consideration is to go media with this whether it be via YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, newspaper, or the news our voice will be heard and not silenced.
I agree with you that this game is not Halo. But where you are wrong is where you described a lack of choice. I made the choice not to buy Halo 5, and I hope I’m not alone in that.

dude. if you were alone on that, halo 5 is the most successful game in history.
Problem is these days that split screen is not needed or wanted as much as it was back in the day. Now that internet is cheaper and gaming in general is cheaper everyone has their own console and games you don’t see people needing or wanting the split screen. Now yes I would love to see it added to the game it is a nice feature to have I just don’t see it as useful anymore for the majority of gamers this day in age.
Almost all FPS games have been moving away from couch co-op. The amount of processing power it takes to render a single frame in game at 60fps causes it to not be feasible to do split screen for multiplayer. Physics, Lighting, shaders, these things take the majority of the calculation time to get the frame ready, in order to create 4 frames at the same time you would lose an incredible amount of graphical fidelity which would make the game near unplayable not to mention ugly.
Games always want to put on their best face, and split screen kills that.

I’m here to add my voice to all the others being vocal about why we didn’t buy H5 in hopes that the series can be turned around if we ever see another Halo game.

Black Ops 3 has 4 player splitscreen and it runs at 60 fps. And it’s the most beautiful looking Call of Duty to date. Also has a giant campaign with huge open sections and different routes… Sound familiar? And it’s all done without compromising splitscreen.
I agree with OP. I remember back in the halo 2 era, when my buddies and I would bring consoles and big bulky crt tvs over to each others houses, and have 8 friends playing on 2 tvs and consoles just nerding the -Yoink- out of the game. Now, my wife and I play halo mcc split screen and the many campaigns that go along with it, all splitscreen. Now 343i brings out halo 5, and they decided to make it not split screen compatible? WHAT THE -Yoink-? Halo has been the splitscreen warfare game thats been out since the early 2000’s, why change that? How can you change that? This is not halo… VERY dissapointed in this. My wife and I preordered it, after fiending halo 4 campaign for the past week to get all refreshed in the story so that we could play the new campaign, and we loaded the game, found out we couldnt play together AT ALL, and we put halo mcc back in. I really hope 343 reads this, as they are the only person who I honestly care reads this. But this is yet another fail on 343s part. First a broken mcc, now a broken halo 5. Good job in failing on carrying on bungies legendary game. Failure. All I ask is that it becomes splitscreen compatible, and soon. What a joke guys seriously. Single player halo, garbage
If you are the fan you claim to be you would have known long before now that there is no split screen and why. Secondly, you said you can only play campaign coop ONLY. That’s only true if you don’t have XBL. Again IF you are the fan you claim to be paying for XBL would also not be an issue. your story has inconsistencies so its hard to take your opinion seriously.
