Not 'Good', and Proud Of It

When the CSR system comes into play in April I most likely will be around a 19. My vaunted K/D is a mere .86, I’ve logged more games of Oddball than Slayer, my gamertag reflects my love for sports not my ‘mad Halo skillz’, I will never complete the Perfection commendation, I don’t use my mic, and I am a passionately stupid AR rusher despite my obvious use of the highly controversial DMR. I play a few hours at a time, I’m a 130 because I LOVE Cool Ranch Doritos and I play a lot of non-matchmaking Spartan Ops, and people online apparently find this offensive. Oh, and if you’ve played with me you’ll notice I can’t aim to save my life and couldn’t camp with an RV. The majority of these forums consider me a horrible Halo player and worst of all, a ‘casual’.

The point of admitting all this you ask? Despite all of the above, I am a moderately happy, well adjusted, COMPETITIVE adult who does enjoy winning as part of his gaming experience but is mature enough to understand that some people play games just to play games. And I’d like to see more like minded people respond to this thread to help confirm that not everyone in these forums is obsessed with being ‘better’ than everyone else just because you have better statistics.

By the way, the stat that I am most proud of and constantly seek to improve & maintain (and rage quit, scream at my TV, and curse the gods about)?

460 wins, 445 losses - the only ‘going positive’ any real competitor should care about.

460 wins and 445 losses is not ‘good’ either, but based on your hipster logic that must be why you’re proud of it.

Touche! I was more pointing out that I do get obsessive about stats, just not the one everyone else does.

Testify, Brother! Testify!

I too am willing to own my 0.9 K/D. I’m the guy willing to take out the friggin’ tank with a plasma shot, so that the rest of the team can destroy it. I’ve maxed out AR, and LOVE Oddball, since it is about winning and not can I out DMR someone across the map. If I can jump in between the ball carrier and two opponents and slow them down, who cares if I get assassinated?

I do have a mic, but since I often play with randoms, I don’t get to actually get to use it much.

I’m not going to have the reaction time of a 14 y/o, so all of the 50’s/Onyx/MLG players can go off and leave us alone.

> Touche! I was more pointing out that I do get obsessive about stats, just not the one everyone else does.

Fair enough. Sorry sir.

I hear you

My standpoint is this:

Play the game the way you want to play it. Dont let outside influence or status quo affect your mindset. Strive for calm inside your own hearts, for that spartans will set you free, free to enjoy the game, whether its goals of being an extreme competitive player or someone who like to go into BTB and try to get splatters with a mongoose.

We as a community should stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and help each other for changes that benefit the entire community. In doing this in a professional and mature manner we will obtain the mantle of responsibility. For they may make the game, but we are the ones to carry it on. Without us, they are nothing, without them, so are we.

OK, Deluca, I’ll accede to you point, but without us, they are unemployed. Without them, I am still a Parent, and a Volunteer, and an Employee…

Ewww…

Okay, I’m just kidding. When you’re enjoying the game the way you want to enjoy it, then you know you’re doing it right. This whole casual/competitive divide is a little bit silly, anyways.

I think he means as Spartans.

KD means nothing and don’t let the people on these boards tell you otherwise. I have a 1.7 and will still pretty much agree with your post. Play how you wanna play and ignore the crybabies on this forum.

Finally a new thread!
I agree, just play how you want and dont get caught up in all the blah blah blah on this site.
Too many people who otherwise would not have a problem come to this site and get brain washed from all the blind hate that is regurgitated over and over again.

Im imagine a game level 50 with infinity rules… A absolutly camp fest LoL

Dont get my wrong i have 1.20 ratio and im closed to get master oddball but i like ranks and MLG playlist (closed games). Rank isnt 1 or 50 is 1,2,3,4,5,6, until 50, people can found fun in middle…
But when play ranks must respect your teammates and try your best game for win
Only BKs have ratio/get 50 obsession, and lots of times they only have better connection than skill.

Just play how you want and as long as you’re having fun and not ruining the fun for others then who cares about your stats? I don’t. I’m glad you’re having fun OP! That is what is most important.

Also if someone is trying to pull the “stat card” on you and dismissing your opinions based on a number, report them because that isn’t allowed here at Waypoint.

Have fun on Halo 4 and enjoy!

No one picks on me DSight, my stats are so unimpressive as to be unremarkable. But I do see that people who do have impressive stats go pretty hard at each other when discussing non related Halo topics, dismissing very valid arguments/opinions out of derision. I get picked on for my cornflower blue armor mostly.

Ain’t nothing wrong with cornflower blue, its NCs’ color after all.

100% agree.

I play Big Team Slayer and an focused on how to make my team victorious.

This means countering the camo camping on the centre of Ragnarok. This means softening up enemies with my DMR across the map.

I enjoy the game, and refuse to let MLG, Population data, or CSR, affect how I personally view this game.

eww, yuk! (I went to the school about 15 minutes east of there.)

When I read the topic of this thread I assumed it was a quote from 343 about the mp in H4.
I’m so fixated.

lol OP plays sports

Fantastic way to injure yourself. My buddy blew out his knee in highschool basketball

I just played halo and went to the gym. Today my body is in good shape, that same buddy cant run for very long due to his knee.

sports=lame, so dont try and put off your inability to play well for that LOL
