I played mcc yesterday after playing halo 5 for a couple months. The game play just seems so… stiff. I would always vouch for halo 3 saying it was the best halo, etc. Before I would complain about halo 5, but now it seems I’ve been spoiled by it. Anyone else experience this?
Not really. I have spent a lot of time in Halo 5, but more for a want to be able to actually play a Halo game, not because I like it. If the MCC worked and had content developed for it, like new maps and such for H2A, then I would be playing that over Halo 5 all day long.
I think it’s much slower going back to the old games. However, maybe nostalgia but I felt like that was part of the halo feel. Now its run and gun and flips and -Yoink-. I always thought I wanted that for halo since we are superheros, but I just don’t like the increased pace of everything. It also causes the maps to be completely cluttered and awful to play on for me personally.
Although they are all fantastic games, yes, I feel that everyone should stop complaining about halo 5, even though it has no split screen (ahem) it most certainly has the best second to second gameplay the series has ever seen.

People are allowed to be critical of a game that didn’t hold to their expectations. Especially when said game was saying “We have gone back to our roots!!”, but in reality, they just made the game even more generic.

When they said “roots” they meant arena gameplay; equal starts. But yeah…
I still switch between every HALO game everday because I can’t decide which one to stick with! One moment I’m playing WZ in HALO 5, then HALO 2 campaign, and finally Firefight on REACH…
It’s hard deciding which HALO game is best because the HALO franchise is just so amazing T-T
I would rather have a slower base movement speed than an op jetpack that breaks decent map design, or the completely over saturated use of sprint.
Just imo.
This is an issue with all gaming right now.
I was watching some Resident Evil: Outbreak gameplay today. It struck me how slow the game was. It didn’t feel that slow when I played it all those years ago, but watching it now is different. With games wanting to be action packed and twitch friendly they have been continually sped up. In doing so though, Horror games especially have lost their horror aspect. RE:O though was still tense to watch for me. I enjoyed the slower more intense style of play, over the throw away style of modern games.
Also, this. Halo has never needed sprint and flashy animations to be “fast”. That is just rhetoric spread by players who prefer the more generic style of modern games.
