Picked up Reach for the first time in 5 years last week and while it’s been fun I notice I’m not getting much money for the game play I put in; I’m only getting about 50 credits for playing through a campaign mission on Heroic or fire fight. Was there some kind of patch that made everything but matchmaking worthless? I don’t have gold but I’m definitely connected to xbox live and playing on a silver account; not being connected was the only thing really which is supposed to hold you back as far my googling can tell and yet I’m still getting paid pennies for an hour and a half of playtime.
Yeah you don’t get much for local play. Gotta head online to get some good credits. There’s still the campaign farming method you can do, but that gets super boring real fast.
You mustn’t be connected to xbox live (i.e offline) to be getting only the ‘game completed’ 50 cR. Easy fix is to just press both the start and menu buttons simultaneously to open up the 360 menu (if on xbone) and connecting to xbox live. You don’t even need a gold subscription to earn campaign/firefight cR.

While it is true that you don’t need a Gold Subscription for earning cR, the amount of cR is greatly reduced if you aren’t playing on an account with an active Gold Subscription. For real, I currently have to play offline and I only get like 50-80 cR after playing Legendary Firefight for 2-3 hours. And I get about the same amount for playing campaign on Legendary with a couple of skulls on. For highest chances of getting the most cR, you need Gold. And for fast cR, have Gold and do the daily/weekly challenges.

It’s an incentive to play matchmaking. Without Gold, you ain’t getting far. If you wanna get a lot of Crs go to Firefight matchmaking, but MP is also good and enjoyable.
