QFT.
I’m sorry you both feel that way. Honestly seems a little over dramatic to me. They’re making a new console and a new Halo game to go with it. This is the 3rd time they’ve done it.
I’m sure quite a few people are not getting an xbox one. Myself included.
> I’m sorry you both feel that way. Honestly seems a little over dramatic to me. They’re making a new console and a new Halo game to go with it. This is the 3rd time they’ve done it.
It’s extremely over dramatic. Especially considering once you have an Xbox One for a week or two, you won’t notice a difference.
The vast majority of people whining about the Xbox One requiring internet, do it OVER THE INTERNET. The vast majority of people whining about trading games TRADE MAYBE 1 GAME A YEAR TO 1 FRIEND. And the vast majority of people whining about the Used Game market think Steam is the best thing to happen to gaming since the invention of the arcade machine, and Steam has ZERO USED GAME SUPPORT. At least MS is keeping some of it, we all know this generation could have been an all-online DLC generation of consoles.
Kinect can be turned off any time (and the PS4 has a Kinect Camera too -_-)
The Sega Genesis, PS2, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 are the only consoles that were EVER backwards compatible, now it’s some kind of big deal that the Xbox One and PS4 aren’t? (And to the people going on about PS4’s “PS3 Stream” that lets you play PS3 games, yes it’s true. But you have to BUY THEM AGAIN to do it, and aren’t able to just use the disc copy of it you bought a year ago.
The fact is that Destiny will be the last game ever to come out on PS3 and Xbox 360. So if you want more games, you’ll have to suck it up and go to the next generation.
I’ve yet to have a single person convince me there is a justified reason not to buy an Xbox One, other than “I like Killzone better than Halo”. Not one damn person.
I’m not getting a X-bone. Pains me to say it because I love Halo but I don’t like or appreciate all the stuff that surrounds the X-bone. I will say however that just out of my love for Halo I might pick it up when and if it drops to the $200-300 range, but that won’t be for another 2-3 years at the earliest.
Im going to wait on the Xbox one. Just incase their might be a custom Halo console again.
Yes, although I have thought about getting a PS4 and I’ve been a loyal xbox fan since the beginning.
The PS4 itself seems much better, yet I still love the xbox exclusives.

My problem with the XONE is how essentially ONE feature, the ability to play installed games WITHOUT the disc, restricts the entire player base. To make sure the game is valid, the XONE needs to be connected to the internet at regular intervals, and to sell used games, doesn’t GameStop have to use some special device that renders the former owner’s digital copy of the game invalid?
All of these hoops to jump through JUST to have an extra feature that just isn’t worth the price.
Also, people complaining about the XONE’s “features” while it doesn’t effect THEM directly is no reason to see their arguments as invalid. Them arguing for a group beside themselves certainly warrants more attention than the countless “It doesn’t bother me, so who cares?” arguments I see floating around.
I WILL probably end up getting a XONE because I’m more interested in the XONE’s exclusives than I am the PS4’s. While it won’t make a big impact on me, personally, I can’t just pretend every person that plays games are exactly like me.
I don’t see many problems with the Xbox One from my point of view. The only things that bother me, is the fact that it’s $500+ and there’s no headset/mic that comes with it, which is pretty stupid, I don’t think too many people wanna chat threw Kinect.
Anyway, I’ll be buying it around the Holiday season. I wanna play BF4 and The Elder Scrolls Online when they come out. I’m really sick of all the negativity towards it, grow up people, things change
I’ve already pre-ordered my Xbox 1, I’m pretty excited to get my hands on it. Non of the so called restrictions bother or affect me, so I am more than happy to purchase it. Can’t wait for Halo 5, it will be cool to see how they improve game using their knowledge and experience from making Halo 4. November can’t come soon enough!!

My biggest problem with the Xbone is that the camera isn’t actually off. It has to still be on in some way in order for it to hear the command “Xbox on.”
Tell me one problem that the One solves from the previous generation. It doesn’t. It creates problems and restrictions for the user. If I wanted to buy a digital copy of a game with DRM I would have installed it on my PC for that.
I won’t get an Xbox One but I’ll be willing to update to Windows 8 if they make Halo 5 available there. That’s as far as I’m willing to go for my favorite franchise given the current state of events.

Scratched disks
This link MIGHT help.
Just let me play my single player games without the need of an internet connection and I’ll be fine.

sigh There is an off, on, and stand-by mode. You are welcome for the two-three week old news
yep not getting the anti-consumer console.
In the future when servers are pulled Halo 5 and all Halo titles on the Xbox One won’t be playable due to the servers being gone and DRM restrictions.
So yeah goodbye Halo.
I’m getting it, however their used games and always online policies in my mind and of many other consumers like me and unacceptable.
The evidence I have that people didn’t like this change is simple. MSFT stocks went down 1.1% (a lot for microsoft) and Sony stocks went up by the same amount.
Now there are many problems with having an always online xbox. Firstly the competetive scene will have to make sure that during tournaments all of the 100 to 200 xbox ones they need have to all have been connected online and remain that way. This will overcomplicate tournaments due to the fact that most venues that they are held in don’t have a 5,000 dollar wifi system set up in them and they connect the consoles peer to peer.
Secondly and a lot more of a concern for me as I know someone in the military. They usually play on the xbox when they are out on deployment as a way to cool off and chill out. It’s their way of escaping where they are for an hour. You can’t connect an xbox one out in the field so my buddy in the military won’t be able to play on the new console out there on downtime.
And I could go on.
Next is this whole fiasco about the ability to block used games on the console. Now I have read that it is publisher dependant but all the same, just the fact that it is a feature to choose annoys me. Games in my opinion have always been something that I purchased and since I own it I can choose to do what I want with it, lend it to a friend or more importantly (the bane of my existance) trade it in for something else.
I am getting it but I feel cheated by microsoft and thus I won’t be getting one until much closer to Halo 5’s release date. The first console I’m getting will be the PS4 and that is purely because it is cheaper, less regulated and has a bunch of exclusive game series on it that I adore. The PS4 for me is the first console I will buy for sure.
My hope in choosing to buy the consoles this way is that the Xbox one will be cheaper in price by the time Halo 5 comes near and they will have maybe backtracked on a few of these DRM decisions that they made.
DRM is a dangerous road. If anyone else plays on the PC here, they will know about this whole anti piracy DRM excuse and will hate DRM for everything that it is.
Of course I like game developers and I want them to get money but this is not the way to do it. A game, like a book, movie or car should be yours to do with as you wish the moment you purchase it. A game is not a license.
Of course if you couldn’t tell I like the new direction of sony with the PS4 a lot and I respect the way they have interacted with the development studios. It is too early to tell which console will do better however it is assured that the launch of PS4 is going to be a lot smoother than that of the xbox one.
I’m not defending sony, but from a gamer standpoint I just respect them more at the moment.
What a lot of people are forgetting that will defend microsofts xbox one and say that peoples reactions to it are unfounded is this. The launch success of that console will be of the publics view of it at the time it comes out. So if people are annoyed and they see a cheaper/less restrictive option well we already know what will happen.
Unless microsoft changes their policies quickly and turns this around we might be seeing a big console “launch” flop. Stressing the word “launch”.

Exactly
