I’ve played all the Halo games, with the exception of Halo Wars. I am a casual, older gamer, not anywhere near a pro, but in all the other Halo games, I was able to hold my own, and maintain a positive, (just barely), K/D ratio. So, now we come to Halo 5, and either my skills have deteriorated to the point that I should seek medical help, or this is a different kind of Halo. I seriously suck at this game. I’m no good at COD, or Titanfall, and that’s what this game feels like to me. I’ll give it a few more hours, but it doesn’t look good.
I’m not as good as I was with the previous games either. Part of it is me not being super familiar with the maps but I’m not as smooth with the weapons either.
I agree it feels like it is not for casuals. Now, I am not the greatest player myself but I like the feel. My wife, however, cannot do anything. Of course she was not very good at previous Halo games. But she just not near as “good” here. In my experience this game has more precision in the shooting. I am having to hit my headshots for them to count in SWAT or any other mode. In previous games I could be off a little. Helped a lot in SWAT. Sort of like COD really. You do not have to be as accurate or good at shooting to do decent there. My wife, again, is a good example. COD: K/D typically 1.0-1.2. Previous Halo: .7-.9 sometimes (SWAT she was lucky to get a kill), Halo 5: 0.0-0.3 ← on a lucky match. In the case of this game she needs something like firefight or something so we can all play together. Game is just not friendly to casual type players.
Same here. Father of two, so I only get a handful of hours to play each week. I can’t just pick it up and go. Been playing Halo forever and it’s really the only franchise I continue to play. So it shouldn’t take relearning a new game with each installment. My wife convinced me to play Destiny with her and I picked it up instantly. It felt like Halo 3. We’ve been playing that and now Halo 5 is kicking our butts. I simply don’t have time to relearn Halo. That’s what the last 15 years were for.
This is further evidence of one of my fears coming true. This game is a lot harder than any of the previous Halo games. I will adapt and be ok. But my fear is because they have made aiming harder(reducing aiming assist along with the Stuff they have done with the aiming speeds)and made radar all but useless. I have been really concerned they are going to push away a big part of the fanbase just to satisfy the smaller group of hardcore players. If they don’t change anything in the next couple of weeks. I fully suspect people will definitely move on to Battlefront and COD:BL3. I might be one of them. Still undecided. I love the game, but at times it quite frustrating. I have gotten shot in the back so many times due to the reduction of radar that never happened in previous games.
The game definitely needs a few tweaks…
I just put up my ranking of all HALO multiplayer games here:
Basically, I’m going to move on to COD BO3 and Star wars Battlefront when they are released later this week and next.
I find the absence of aim assist in HALO 5 multiplayer to make playing this game frustrating and not a lot of fun. It’s not how I want to spend what little free time I have playing video games.
That’s why I plan on giving away my XBOX ONE and HALO 5 to my colleague and his children once I’m done with HALO 5.
I’m beginning to think this game isn’t for anyone!
The semi-/competitive side of the community is complaining about the aim controls, and now the casuals are complaining about not sustaining their performance in comparison to other halos!
There’s only one thing left to do!
Nerf armor lock/bubble shield/shotty range/ pistols
-No, adapt!
–No u dum
-adappptttttt, get gud
–is that the only word you can say?
343i/bungie- we have no clue what we’re doing.
I was decent and it seems that this is easier. Probably averaged a 3 kdr all night. I am 30 btw, Idk if that is considered older.

I think 343 is trying to please EVERYONE at the same time.
And that is why NO ONE is happy with HALO 5.

Exactly.

They definitely chose the pro gamers as the target audience, but even some of them aren’t happy (I imagine they are the hardest to please). The campaign feels rushed, so obviously we who dig the campaign weren’t a priority. No PvE modes. No casual arena modes. Warzone doesn’t do it for me either. I really want to love this game. I actually dig the controls as I’ve gotten more used to them, but there isn’t enough there to guarantee that I’ll be playing it up until Forge hits…

I’m quite happy with it so your statement seems flawed.
My best advice, from a player in the exact same position as you, is to go easy on Arena and stick to Warzone for a while. It’s just a better, less stressful, slower-paced place for easing yourself into the new weapon and motion mechanics. After a few weeks of that you’ll be ready for anything.
aside from modes like breakout how exactly is this game catered to pro players, seems to me people are just making excuses to explain what they consider to be bad play. Just have fun for crying out loud does aiming have a different feel ? YES… Is it so different that you can’t overcome and adjust…NOPE at its core this is Halo with more bells and whistles and its for the better. If you really think that BO3 or even battlefront for that matter can touch Halo 5 in overall MP quality then I don’t even know what to say.
I don’t know. I think you guys complain too much.
I’m definitely not a pro and i’m doing alright.
I don’t want a game like C.O.D where all you have to do is look at someone, and I don’t want it to have that much bullet magnetism or auto aim. If it becomes that easy then it kind of ruins the point of being able to fight back as the game will do all the work for the one shooting. Halo has always taken skill to play, even Halo 4 to a degree, so why are y’all complaining now?
This game is perfect, I think. It’s not that hard to learn if you already know how to play Halo. You already got most of the things down. Sure it may be a little different, but it’s not night and day like people make it seem.
Also, most of the complaints seem to be coming from people who don’t want to bother to learn and want the game to give them free kills.
But, that’s just my opinion.

Maybe those games can’t touch Halo, but if casual players want to pick this game up and play for 2 hours every Saturday night, they’ll struggle to have fun. If those other games are easy to pick up and play, guess where those casual gamers will go?

Why do you care what we think about HALO 5?
I assure you that we don’t care what you think about our opinions on HALO 5’s multiplayer.

Part of the skill and effort in getting kills is outsmarting your opponents and knowing your surrounding better. Not just being quicker and more accurate with your thumbs. Having accurate aim assist isn’t free kills, you still have to mentally win.
It definitely feels harder than the previous Halos. After getting my -Yoink!- handed to me all last week in Slayer, I decided to stick to Swat until I got comfortable with aiming for the head.
