So let’s change that.
Since my recent players were already filled with people from Reach and HW, I sent them a mass message:
> All Halo 3, Halo Wars, and Halo: Reach DLC are free! (Excluding Noble Map Pack.) Download them and spread the word!
Before anyone says anything, I intentionally left out Call of “halo” 4, that experience is still too traumatic to for me acknowledge it’s existence. No response from most people, but most responses were positive and thanking me for the information, however a few were of confusion. Some people did not know how or where to download the DLC.
Since some people are still complete n00bs with basic functions of the Xbox One (or Xbox 360), I had to tell them to go to “Home” or “Games & apps”, press start on the game, “see in store”, then scroll down to “game add-on’s”. When someone told me they were also in “Ready to install”, I included “You can find them in the marketplace or in ‘Ready to install’ under ‘Games & apps’.” in the middle of my message.
To speed up the rate I go through my recent players, I was match making primarily in BTB, Invasion, and Multi Team then backing out before a full lobby is created. If I do get in a game, I still play it. (One game I went 28-2.) Once I get a completely new recent players list, rinse and repeat.
Unfortunately there is still a language barrier with some people based on a couple responses (might have to use some simple Spanish), and I have yet to get a game with the DLC maps, but hopefully the effort will pay off. At least I get to hear some people are grateful for the information. There is a limit on how many mass messages you can send to people in a day, so the next time I fill up my recent players list, I will wait to play another game until I can message again. I also left a LFG post for Halo Wars and Halo: Reach letting people know about the free DLC.
If anyone else can do the same with different playlists, it would really speed up the process of finally getting to play some DLC maps in matchmaking.
