Not being able to return the flag

Not being able to return the flag is one of the biggest buzz kills of this game. In every Halo game if the enemy team drops your flag you have the chance to defend it and, return it, be that a 15 second return, 10 second, or 5 second, it doesn’t matter.

In Halo 4 for whatever reason there is like one playlist where this happens,(I’m pretty sure team throwback is the only one). So when it comes to Big team flag it is almost impossible to return it, and I’ll tell you why.

When the enemy steals your flag then gets killed, the flag has a 30 second timer until it is returned to your base. The only problem is that if they get a single touch the time resets to 30. Meaning that they can slowly push the flag back to their base, it doesn’t matter if the whole team wipes. they simply respawn, touch, die, over and over again until the flag is captured. This isn’t right especially when you’re in Big team where there are 8 man teams.

TL;DR:

Make it so we can return the flag in all gametypes. This sort of gameplay is a hindrance to Halo.

P.S. Get rid of the “Kill” marker overhead when someone has the flag, but that’s not too big of an issue.

Agreed, the lack of return definitely ruins standard CTF. Why not just have it like Team Throwdown/ past Halo’s where the flag returns when a player is stood next to it?

Makes you have to hold out for longer at nit let them near the flag. Its easy just kill them before they touch it which is easy as hell when you also have 8 teammates covering the flag

It is really dumb that someone can just mindlessly sprint at the flag to instantly get however many more seconds of flag time. It was even worse at launch when flag reset was something around 45 seconds, and it was impossible to stop a cap after a team gets the flag out of the initial base.

What most of the time the team kills the people defending the flag way before it would of been returned and they then run for the flag and grab it just like they would of done if it were the other mechanic.

It is too long and if they add where you actually need to press a button to pick it up that would create less problems.

Here’s a solution. If you make it so that it does have a time limit for that flag and your defending it, if the other picks up the flag have it so the time recharges over time. Say your team defended the flag til it had one second yet the enemy team picked it up they would have to have it for whatever amounts of time to have it recharge to the normal 30 seconds.

Your sentence structure is downright atrocious, but you mean that my example would still exist with a 3-5 second recovery time? Because it wouldn’t happen, and doesn’t happen. It is actually possible to return by standing on the flag for a few seconds as opposed to just waiting it out.

This Would be a good halfway point.

Impossible in Halo 4.

I mean for the next game not as an update.

This thread is for Halo 4 matchmaking.

i’ll agree that was the worst post construction I’ve ever done. Sorry sort of late here.

It’s easy to defend and return the flag as it is currently. It’s simple just kill them before they reach the flag, nearly every match the flag is returned 75% of the time. It may be that your team isnt defending the flag properly.

The current mechanic promotes. Ore team work with people having to defend the flag from all angles compared to only one person recovering it.

You dont say.

What he means is that it may be difficult to implement as an update now in halo 4’s lifecycle.

I don’t see any problems with the old mechanic for returning the flag. Defend it from a pick up and sit on it until it is returned. I see no reasoning for the change in the first place.

Difficult to implement not impossible.

Why do you say certain things are impossible when they arent like DLC gamemode exclusives?

I was adding to the conversation on how to make the flag system better.

With Sprint, Thruster Packs, the maps, and a handful of other factors, it really doesn’t take any more teamwork or skill to brute force the flag. Unless the other team is completely incompetent, you’re not holding them off the flag for 30 seconds. Flag captures in the default playlist aren’t a display of skill, it’s just a matter of time.

It simply does not exist in Halo 4’s options. Megalo is not magic, 343 isn’t just going to create every single option just because.

Please dont alter my post colour thank you.

Its easy to defend the flag in the first place and the defenders have the advantage of holding them of at long range before they get anywhere near it.

Flag capping does require skill still more than before if you ask me and defending still requires more skill than it used to since you have to work as a team to defend it successfully instead of just one person recovering it.

How do you know what the halo 4 engine works like fully. They limit maps so it can be tailored to work for game modes.

Never said they should create all the options but its bit impossible as you suggest.

I don’t see how it’s impossible to make, how do you explain modding and the game types that came into Action Sack?
