not allowed to talk

i recently receaved a notice that said my account was sespended from talking for a week and i was curios why i can not think of any reason why it would be i only use it to speak to my friends and use fare language and would like to be treated farely

It’s Microsoft, nothing is fare. If someone just messed around and mute and unmute you multiple times, it would count against you.

Could that really happen if someone was messing with you?

I believe that the voice ban is controlled by the mute feature. If enough people mute you, you get the voice ban. I was voice banned myself and I don’t even own a mic (or Kinect).

OP, if you were muted by a large enough number of people in-game, then you will receive a mute ban. It doesn’t matter if you were in Party Chat, or didn’t even have a mic plugged in; every person that mutes you counts toward a ban.

I don’t know if the system would count multiple mutes of the same user by the same user.

@OP, people have reported you for voice communication, and the LIVE Enforcement team deemed you guilty of the offense. This means that either you sent messages (as they can listen to any rude messages you may have sent), or there were a large amount of people reporting you. It could be a prank (m2af, report this guy and get him a voice ban, kind of thing.

A week isn’t that bad. I was banned for a month after one night of drunken messages.

A mute ban does not give you a suspension notice from Xbox LIVE, that is an entirely separate system.

For that matter, a Halo mute ban does not give you a notice in-game, you have to find out by observing that you cannot hear anyone, or if someone tells you they had to unmute you.

He’s not talking about that (technically this is the wrong section for his post).

ok i think i got it

Pretty much sounds like how things work in the forums here.

At least online you are having fun playing Halo 4. Which is the best Halo online yet.

all games should be in mute I mean it is a good thing you are able to do that for annoying as* players with their loud music or darn annoying little kids getting yell at by their moms or dads to do their home work holy crap is annoying!!!

I’ve had one chat ban before. It was the ONLY game in Halo 4 that I had played while in game-chat, I forgot to start up a party. Naturally, being in game-chat I wanted to communicate with my team, then some kid told me to shut up… So I didn’t.

I got the voice chat ban a day or so after that. This system seems really broken.
