Okay, before I say anything else, I want to disclose that I absolutely love how Halo 4 turned out. It is truly a fantastic game and I am in love with the Multiplayer and the campaign. I have been a Halo fan since my wee years. However, I have discovered that there are some things within Halo 4 that I found that I am really not too happy with. Though they may be trivial, i do feel like this was something which really tuned a couple heart strings for me within the Halo series. If you really only want to see my main points, they are labeled as 1, 2, 3 etc.
Unimpressive sound track.
Okay, like I said it is trivial, but I feel the soundtracks for the previous Halo games were a serious staple in the franchise. Halo CE, 2, 3, and even Reach had very memorable soundtracks that I fell in love with, but in all honesty, i can’t remember a single track, or remember liking one during my playthrough of the campaigns. Martin O’Donnel is a fantastic composer, and I love the work he did for the previous titles, but I felt like Halo 4 was a bit lack-luster. And who knows, it may have been an excellent soundtrack to some people, but I cannot recall any track that made me think, “thats an awesome song”, or anything of the nature. Btw Halo 2 was my favorite as far as music goes.
Lack of NPC dialogue.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but one of the things I always think of when Halo comes to mind, is the hilarious grunt dialogues through the campaigns of all the other Halo games. “Huddle close, No inappropriate touching” - A brute. I seriously miss this from the other Halos. Yes i know its a new developer, and its a new direction, but I really miss those comments from the marines and other NPCs which almost made me cry at certain points. Again, I feel Halo 4 seriously lacked in the silly dialogue that shone brightly through the first Halos. I feel like in general, 343 kind of ditched any sort of comical aspect of Halo 4. Call me childish but I loved that part of it. I’m not looking for anyone to change Halo 4 right now, but maybe some suggestions for the following 2 Halo titles we are expecting.
The game was, well… kind of easy.
Now this may not be the case for a lot of you, but personally I found that even on Legendary, the campaign was honestly not all that difficult. My first playthrough was a Legendary Co-Op with my brother on splitscreen. And no, we did not turn on all the skulls, except for the non-gamechanging skulls. This is more of a personal preference, and by far more of a opinion than a real statement, but I remember taking more than 5 hours so beat any of the other campaigns on Legendary Co-op. Particularly Halo 2, and Holy crap did that take forever to beat on Legendary Co-Op. I would not credit myself at being an impressive player, I would hardly consider myself above average, but this just felt shorter and less difficult in general than the previous titles.
This is the only major disagreements I have found with the game, other than that, its a fan-flipping-tastic game. Remember these are the personal opinions of a single player, but who knows, maybe someone will actually read this.
Happy Gaming and remember to keep Halo alive and well
You don’t like the change in the soundtrack? But you’re ok with all this new none halo related rubbish they’ve thrown in? Secondly, 343 isn’t a new developer. Their company is made up of Microsoft studios and ex Bungie developers that wanted to continue making this game we call halo duty.
Agree with the audio stuff, as well as thinking the campaign was easy. however it is nice to not always have a plasma pistol and precision weapon on me to take out elites easily - though prmetheans just take a couple more headshots. all this game takes is a light rifle, shotgun, and sentry for all the crawlers.
Yes I did turn that skull on, that was one of my non-gamechaning ones. That along with Grunt Birthday, and the explosion effect increase one. But no, i honestly cant recall hearing the marines or the grunts, or any other NPCs saying anything funny, humurous, or even silly, except for 1 comment in mission 7.
Honestly, I am okay with the various changes 343 has made to the gameplay and such. I think it would have been an unwise decision to release another Halo 3. It may take a little adaption, but I find that I still enjoy the game to high extents.

well that sucks…i loved the funnies from the old ones…johnson bringing a tank cortana saying “HE never gets me anything” him saying “i know what the ladies like” and all that stuff made the game more awesome… im a little sad they went so sad and dark and…romantically tragic (?) with cortana…

You killed flip-yap! Or was it yap-flip? No yap-flip was his brother.

> “yes sir those are -Yoink!-”
See thats what I miss, those hilarious little comments that just make you smile and giggle to yourself. It really was a key element that played a vital role in almost every other Halo game ever made.
