During the Tactical Event, I went from enjoying the Sidekick in SWAT to hating it, and from hating the Mauler into loving it in SWAT.
The Commando in SWAT is the exact same category as the Sidekick, an RNG machine where you get lucky kills.
With the mauler you have to lead your shots as well as account for projectile drop.
Iāll take four boulders to the face and a branch.

If you were previously a habitual cheeselord that banked all your kills on 1 shot > rushing for the melee, youāre in for a rude awakening. Thank the lord the nerf came as it did, because it severely punishes people who charges in for the cheap kill rather than someone using its powerful melee situationally.
Right now if you run round the corner into someone with the Mangler, you will still fall to them due to their ability to shoot > melee > shoot faster than you can get 2 melees in.
On another note: Global melee nerf is mostly unfelt for most guns, but I think thereās some small nerf for AR beatdown fanatics since they can no longer punch as hard as before, they need to fully hose down a target before they can secure a melee kill.

Should be a ranked swat with just br. Have a social swat that is just what we currently have - could throw in others like swatguns or swat flag from the past.

Noobs are more competitive with maulers vs brās. It is what it is, but itās not the game mode that a lot of us old school swat players want

Probably wonāt use it as much if thatās the case. Thereās much better close combat weapons to utilize then the mangler now. Ones that are easier to use too boot and are far more forgiving if you miss a shot.

Most sweaty rankedpeople hate BRs though, they prefer DMR swat in 5 (the sweatiest game in the franchiseb).
So this probably wouldnt stay the ranked variant for long, because they will reintroduce the DMR
That or itd be replaced by stalker rifles
If youāre talking halo 4 and 5 sure but no old school player that could play hates the brs. Only the people that got wrecked by them hate the brs
I mean like Iāve said Iāve had multiple people that I play with that are new to halo, and fps in general, they do well with maulers but they cuss whenever the come up, they want the br. Thatās pretty much all you need to know

No, thatās what 343 needs to know, I wouldnāt have anything different from what h4 did with swat with a loadout between BR and Mag, or DMR or Mag.

And for swat that would be a dream, but they had to do All this extra and thatās where a lot of people lose interest in the game mode

Maybe its to pad out challenges, idk but whoever is voicing their opinions inside 343 rn are terrible.

I agree, in my experience a lot of new players are like me and like the br, not the mauler or stalker, weāve usually gone and played fiesta for a break from the constant stalker and mauler games

I mean I may go positive but a new player playing with people camping with a stalker or not knowing how to use the mauler really takes away from that game mode for them. Plenty do well, but there arenāt many that root for that every time. The new players get a few br games and thatās what they want, they adapt better to it long term
The weapon is actually better now if you can shoot with it. They reduced the bullet drop distance. It didnāt need to be some longe-range mauler.
I feel like now it will never get used, in any situation, so much easier to use an AR
