Not a Fan of Space Magic

In recent videos from PAX we’ve seen some new AA’s. The two in particular I want to speak of are below.

Note both abilities seem to be Promothean (AKA Forerunner).

Regen Field

Auto Turret

My particular problem with both of these abilities is that they don’t seem to be tech. They seem to be magic. Both abilities appear out of nowhere as if summoned with their minds.

This isn’t Halo.

It’s a simple fix though. Instead of striking a pose and making the things appear out of thin air, why don’t they just drop some tech? Toss a thing on the ground and the result being your Regen Field appears or your turret assembles.

Thoughts?

Both of those were in Halo 3 in the form of equipment, so they are very much Halo. And as they say, extremely advanced technology can seem like magic.

Covenant ships can just warp into a battle at any point. Super technology would be consider magic by many.

Agreed I’ve seen enough space magic from Mass effect series to last a life time.I don’t wanna see any magic in Halo ether

battlefront uses auto turrets so I don’t think it will be that bad.

Double post :L

And I’m sure a flashlight would look like magic to a caveman.

> Agreed I’ve seen enough space magic from Mass effect series to last a life time.

…And you beat me to it. Damn you!

I agree that they shouldn’t strike weird poses, and should just drop the equipment, but like people said, advanced technology can lead to it seeming like magic.

Its Forerunner tech.

Forerunners can make things teleport and assemble at will.

Sriking a pose is pretty much summoning the ability, where the turret or regen field will assemble and teleport itself.

The regen field is tech though. It is likely something on the armor, that’ll send out a wave that heals/repairs nearby things. The Forerunners had that tech, this is just mobile.

Really, this is what complaining has come to?

You’re right I forgot Halo was a super realistic war simulator. :open_mouth:

As somebody said before me both of these were in Halo 3 and I personally don’t have a problem with them at all. As long as they’re balanced.

Regen field was in Reach. We haven’t seen how Prometheans will activate the auto turrets as I’m guessing they launch it out of their armor. The regen field appeared out of nowhere in Reach too. But it’s an advanced shield system that recharges your shields I’m guessing. The auto turret is perhaps on the Spartans back as that’s where AA’s were located in Reach. It’s probably where it launches.

It’s Halo.

In the Campaign, Prometheans will likely have actual physical items they use. However MM is a simulator, so none of it is real exactly.

Are you capable of formulating opinions or just spewing garbage? I’m interested in what people think not whatever the hell this post is.

OT: I suppose you’re right. And maybe that’s what 343 was going for. The comment that interested me in specific was the one about a flashlight looking like magic to a caveman. Very interesting.

That which you know as space magic is your salvation through destruction.

There are worse subjects to talk about and this one makes the game look a lot nicer. I mean if everything just popped out of nowhere it just wouldn’t look right in the game.

Hahaha win

i like the regen animation, but it looks to me as if the turret is just the same animation, i’d want another but its not a massive deal

So you wouldn’t consider things like teleportation and slip-space travel space magic? Your logic isn’t too sound, OP.

Broly charging powers FTW
