Nostalgia is nostalgia, don’t run a game on it. One of the reasons we are complaining about all these things is that we remember the glory days of Halo 2 and Halo 3. I wasn’t around much for Halo 2, so I don’t know, but I remember the Halo 3. Halo 3 was my first game I played on Xbox Live, and it was amazing! I have had more memories on that game then I have had in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade combined. My friends and I played Custom Games, enjoyed the hell out of Double EXP Weekends and liked their added benefits. Social Slayer was nice when you wanted it just destroy other opponents, and Ranked was really challenging and competitive. Hell I almost got placed in MLG back in this day. These memories don’t translate to a great game though. Our opinions change, I know mine sure has. I played Halo 3 again and didn’t really enjoy it. I didn’t like how my BR would rarely ever hit the target even while leading it because of the lag without hitscan. I didn’t like how my grenades didn’t act like how I was used to, and I didn’t like the sound lagging on explosions, or the AR Rush wins. Thing is, as I’m typing this, I remember the good times, and it makes me want to play. Then I realize my last experience, and I don’t anymore. It’s easy to feel these strong memories and want this game to be just like 3, but the thing is, making Halo 4 just like Halo 3 won’t make these memories happen again, or even hit these memories on the awesome scale chart. We need to just let 343 do what they do, and reserve final judgement when we play it ourselves. Plus, when we look at Halo: Reach, they listened to their fans. All the things in Halo 4 are subject to change, which means if people really really don’t like it, then they won’t include it. So let’s chill out until we learn more information.
This is not nostalgia. This is us recognizing a bad gameplay feature when we see it, and trying to stop 343 from implementing it.

A lot of popular games have them today, so its obviously not a bad gameplay feature.
Experience is experience. Don’t ruin a game by ignoring it.

Justin bieber is popular nowadays does that automatically mean he is not a bad artist?

and this is how we ruin halo
A warning to people in general: don’t set up false dilemmas. In these types of thread, all too often the conservatives see the liberals as people trying to implement CoD-style ranking and weapon unlocks, Armour Lock off spawn for all, et cetera. Meanwhile, the liberals see the conservatives as demanding an exact remake of <insert favoured previous Halo game here> and eschewing any change. In reality, pretty much everybody hovers somewhere in the middle.

Quite right. People need to stop generalizing so much.

THIS,FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, THIS.
Just because it is in other games doesn’t mean that it needs to be in Halo!
We don’t want a game that appeals to the COD community!
We need a game that appeals to Halo fans! ACTUAL Halo fans, not the kids that started with Reach!
We need BALANCE!

I said a lot of popular games have them, not that Halo needed them. I was responding to those features in general, and that they work for those other games. It may or may not work for Halo… the majority seems to think it won’t work.
Like it or not Frank said this will be the biggest over haul of a halo game. He didnt say, ''we’re going back to the roots of Halo, making it the game style it once was and what made the game great. sorry old timers there not going in that direction.
