Nornfang - Beautiful creation Or Overrated trash?

Just curious as to how you guys feel about the nornfang. Personally, I feel like anyone who uses it and tries to claim themselves as an expert sniper needs to never touch another sniper rifle ever. Your thoughts?

In Fiesta,I sometime ditch it in favor of an Assault Rifle.

In Warzone, it feels pretty cheap to use it. It’s ridiculously overpowered in good hands. It will shoot down everything: players, aircrafts and even tanks.

On the other hand, the possibility of getting betrayed rises exponentially.

Useless in firefight. Just like almost every req weapon. I’m seriously hoping 343 does something to fix that. It would be nice to be able to actually get excited about finding Mythic weapons in my req packs (or any weapon, for that matter).

I really really love the art on it and I’m really hoping that will stay if it returns. I don’t really have any problem with people using it. Warzone was never really meant to be all that balanced anyway, and there are far more overpowered reqs. I think the giant floating laser pointer that turns your opponents (and their vehicles) into dust is much more of an issue than a one shot sniper.

My heart…

Nornfang is a beast weapon. The only downside to it is how much of a target you become. The Delta is a bit more preferable because of it.

It’s really fun to use, that’s for sure. I don’t use it often and really only if I’m in a comfortable position where I can hang onto it until I’m out of ammo.

There’s still a couple downsides I have about it nonetheless.

  • Envious Teammates: This one really irks me. I’ve had people purposefully run me over in a vehicle just to jump out and steal it away. Seriously? People are just desperate nowadays to get their hands on one. - Skill: While Nornfang is an awesome weapon, there’s really little to no skill involved with using it. I’m totally with you on disagreeing that anyone wielding it is automatically an “expert sniper” the damage boosts basically negate any need to precisely aim for anything. Scope, find target and shoot. Doesn’t matter where it lands, it’s guaranteed a kill. Sometimes you don’t even have to directly hit your target to take them out thanks to the explosive damage. You want to claim yourself as an “expert sniper”? Go use End of the Line…that takes a lot more skill to use than a Nornfang.Brav

I detest sniping in all it’s forms, and everyday I play I wish they would be removed from Halo.

Alas, I realize that will never happen. I have tons of nornfangs, and I’ll probably just sell them all as I don’t use them and have no intention of changing that mindset.

It is a pretty gun though, it was designed well aesthetically.

Excuse me, sir. Did you just say the Nornfang doesn’t require skill? I will have YOU know that I have gotten a double kill once with a nornfang. How, you may ask? Well with skill. I scoped in, while crouched in the back corner of blue base. I waited for a person to walk by, kind of like how you do in many other great shooters, and I unleashed a deadly force of a one-hit kill into my enemy. If I missed, well, imagine the outcome!11! I would have needed to land a shot on him with a ‘Sniper-rifle’, a weapon that is only made to be used at an extremely long distance!!11! Want to know what happened. Just this. And guess what!11! I died but then I respawned and found my Nornfang and got him back!1! Sir, this weapon takes a lot of skill! Kappa

I never ran into someone who thought they were an expert sniper from using it. It’s a cheap kill, but it’s supposed to be considering it’s a mythic REQ.

It’s almost like it’s a power weapon or something…

The nornfang is awesome fun in wz and super fiesta and it’s awesome fun figuring out how to crush the enemy who spawns (or spawns with one.) It’s incredibly strong, but not completely overpowering. I don’t really care if it is ‘easy to use’ it is worth it for the fun. Things don’t have to be difficult for the sake of being difficult.

I hate it. It’s too op for my liking

The H2 Beam Rifle Delta seems to be the same thing really.

People use these two rifles the way that I use regular sniper rifles though. I’ll light up vehicles as soon as I would a Spartan. I think people are just too interested in head shots and will let aircraft wreck their team while they wait to collect headshots. I guess what I am saying is that I like these two rifles because it seems they encourage people to shoot anything that moves.

just knowing that everyone is after you and the fact that you can literally take them all on makes it a blast in warzone

Nornfang is the relaxing reward at the end of a long match of intense concentration. Finally, you can set up your hammock, sip your iced tea, and give out free naps to everyone. Delightful and refreshing.

While it’s design is beautiful, The Bonus Damage boost imo takes the skill away

And forgot to mention how Strong that gun is

It’s a mythic level req used for war zone. I don’t think any one who uses one considers themselves some master sniper. It’s meant to be a high power fun weapon to use and it fits that role nicely. I prefer to use the H2 Delta, that is the best and most fun sniper to use IMO. Not everything in Halo has to be about “skill”.

The nornfang to me is a really good weapon in the hands of a skilled player. However i feel that it is too easy to use. Maybe reducing its starting ammo in warzone is a good way to balance it.

I dont see how a 1hk weapon can be considered trash.
