Nope. This game needs to be delayed AGAIN.

Why is it just 343 that seems to have trouble then? Games used to release with full content, not shed features of past games and repackage them later as “updates.” Stop being such an apologist.

> TLDR; 343 knows how high the bar is concerning the quality of this game. If they say the SP campaign and MP are ready let’s go and enjoy with faith that there is no doubt what halo infinite’s endgame will be!

“a perfect single player campaign to experience”
They said that about H5.
So far they they have not proven it will be a perfect campaign, and only time will tell.

Just 343i? Did you miss the many games being delayed or parts of them?

Plenty, sure, but 343 has wreaked of development hell more potently than almost any other modern development studio. Even if you want to discard that aspect of my argument, the rest of it stands. Repackaging old features as “updates” is bad practice, and this game will not last without them. They ought to delay if they truly need that much time. I can wait, just give us a game with a damn soul.

> 2533274792737987;82:
> Everyone is overreacting. They are on a new engine hence they have to build everything from the bottom up and not purely derive. Co-op will have the largest tethering gap ever in Halo and Forge has to be dynamic with a new engine.

Slipspace is not a “new” engine. It is a heavily derived engine that builds on previous Halos’ engines, and is not made from scratch. They did not have to build things from the ground up, and even if they did, this should not be the state of this $500 million dollar game at this stage. It takes an incredible amount of cognitive dissonance to dismiss or excuse them for this.

What are they repackaging? Please elaborate because Forge and Co-op are being built on a new engine and network infrastructure which is far from “repackaging”.

No more delays, if the game is in a playable state, then it can be dropped. Delaying a game is only acceptable/necessary if the game is non-functional. I was hesitant to even agree with the people who wanted it delayed because they didn’t like the art style.

Can we all please be legitimately honest with ourselves.

The coop campaign population is a pretty darn small % of people who are going to play the game.

And the forge population is even smaller.

Delaying the game doesn’t make a lick of sense no matter how you look at it if solo campaign, solo MP, split screen MP are all in a really good state. The logic to delay just doesn’t hold up, and I’m happy they at least gave us a warning this stuff wouldn’t be there at launch.

Nope, it’s not being delayed again. It’s likely less than 3 months away. MS def isn’t gonna let them delay again at the last sec. it’s coming November.

> 2535438342425578;15:
> I seriously hope that MS disbands and shuts down 343i all together and forms a new studio for Halo or hand it over to Coalition or Id Software. 343 haven’t made a great Halo in a decade and their incompetence is getting pretty apparent.

Infinite seems like a great comeback and feels like Halo again. You on crack?

I swear the idiot meter is off the scale on this forum tonight. Delay it why?. This isn’t game-breaking and both features will be in-game within 6 months so there is no issue. Please stop being ridiculous thank you.

Games used to be a lot more simple. They are releasing this for 5 different Xbox consoles that vary massively in power and PCs in general. Potentially you are going to have two people playing on original 500gb Xboxes, XSX and PC. It really might not be straight forward to make it all work, who knows if there’s additional considerations too if one person is rtx 60fps and another has low everything. I have no idea. Basically there’s a bunch of reasons why this might not be straight forward. It would be great if it was solved but I’d rather have the completed stuff now and wait for the “extras” than wait longer for everything all in one go.

Can’t deny H5 and MCC launch were disasters, so I really hope this is much better.

IKR what have they been doing for the past 6 years? I can maybe understand not having elites in your game at launch but forge and co-op. This is unacceptable as far as game development and implementation goes. Maybe we should just wait 3 more years and give it the cyberpunk experience.

This is just pathetic. If it’s one thing I’ve been hounding over and over again was that this game cannot and should not release with modes MISSING!!! Delay again, just bloody listen to the fans. Listen to the feedback because this is starting to be on par with halo 5 lead up.

stop going in half baked with pulled punches. I am at a loss for words and it’s beyond the point of trying to be respectful. This isn’t good enough, simple.

There are so many players that want to do their first run of Coop campaign together at launch! Also Forge 6 months later! What is that all about? Basically a dead custom games community. One of Halo’s most favourable features!!

I’m on the side of the community where the game should be delayed. As all Games (not just Halo) has proven over the years, games that launch without all its content at launch, loses a huge initial player base potential! Imagine being a new player to the Halo universe without the ability to play with someone else on the campaign.

My thoughts…
DELAY THE GAME PLEASE!!! We all want a launch with everything in it!!

Amazing how in a few years we’ve gone from people making excuses for the lack of split screen to using almost the exact same excuses to justify the total lack of campaign co-op in a Halo game. This is where we are at.

Yep, I get it now. I thought the first delay announcement was suspect because by the time COVID-19 came along, the game should have only been about 7-8 months away from being done.

But no, this makes it obvious to me: they were clearly only 1 - 1.5 years into development when we got that campaign demo. That was the best thing they could manage to get running in time for a DELAYED E3 press conference, which means the multiplayer at the time must have been in absolute SHAMBLES.

So fast forward to today, and by my measure, the game has been in actual development for maybe 2.75 years. They are close, but not quite there yet, hence they have to delay Co-op and Forge in order to prioritize the core game. The scale of this game probably requires about 3.5 years of development to pull off with all features at launch, and Holiday 2021 is below that threshold.

Yes, I’m not a dev, and it’s just speculation, but I have observed, and I can make inferences, so I firmly believe the actual development of this game did not start until around mid-2018. That would explain why for 2 years we got NO gameplay whatsoever, and then the year after that, the gameplay and graphics still looked incomplete. It would explain why COVID had such a devastating effect on development, because they weren’t trimming branches, they were still watering the seed. It’s glaringly obvious.

And while I really do believe the majority of the employees at 343 have put in some mad hard hours and dedication the last few years, something tells me that some of them were coasting up until Covid hit, and then they got caught off guard. And based on this video update, they only seemed to actually return to their offices recently, and it’s like come on. You’re well within your rights to want to feel safe and everything (I worked from home plenty of the time in the last year and a half too), but are we sure that isn’t being just a tiny little smidge TOO cautious?

A lack of co-op campaign at launch isn’t the deal breaker for me. Even being able to mess around in forge isn’t. My disappointment stems from the fact that we’re not gonna have wacky custom games and forge maps for SIX MONTHS AFTER LAUNCH.

With enormous pain welling at the core of my heart, 343- I beseech you to delay this game to Spring 2022.

Problem is the “extras” aren’t extras. They are game bare basic modes that should 100% without a shadow of a doubt that needs to be in the game day ONE. No if’s, no buts, it has to be at launch. Coop splitscreen was halo 5 biggest downfall and most stupid decision that was ever made in all of halo.

They really can’t come to release with half a game.
