Ok. Fine. But what the heck is that?
My analogy was a movie theater opening without popcorn.
Why would you do that?
That sucks.
Just delay the movie theater until you can open it with popcorn.
Nobody gets hurt, because the movie theater isn’t open yet. But open the theater now, and people who show up looking for popcorn are going to be disappointed. And who knows if they’ll wander back when the movie theater finally decides to quietly announce, six months later, “Now selling: popcorn!”

> Who cares? You missed the moment.
Also its funny cause movie theatres make most their money from concessions, IE popcorn and snacks, they’re integral to that movie theatre experience, as are forge and co-op.
for my part there not have to delayed the game any more.
and so what campaign CO-OP and forge is coming what later is not that big deal at all.
sure its not happy for the players that wane make custom maps in forge or wane play with friends the campaign mode.
So 343 manages to get all the Micro transaction technology in place but not forge or Co Op…If it was the other way round this game would now be delayed…Vultures !

For what reason though? I can play campaign just fine without these as will many others.

Regardless of whether you agree or not .they’ve taken the decision to release on holiday 2021 .it’s really that simple .

YOU are spoiled for demanding the cake before its even baked in the oven. Let them finish it before its release, so we don’t get food poisening from a half baked, DOA game. Do you remember Anthem, Destiny, Outriders, Farcry Primal? the list goes on. Learn from your mistakes as a consumer and stop rewarding mediocrity with money.

The Store may only represent a small area of the entire UI/Game Menu, a game menu which needs to be fully up and running by launch, regardless of other missing features.
Forge is an entire game mode.
But yes, lets compare them apples for apples.
I’m not defending 343 (I feel like I have to make that distinction now), just pointing out how ridiculous it is to compare the two parts of the game, in terms of effort it requires to build them.

It wouldn’t be as bad as Cyberpunk 2077 haha. At least Halo Infinite will be a bit better than a Cyberpunk like release.
Just like Halo 5 (which failed) they are focusing on the BS esports and influencer communties. multiplayer will be the only thing with anything thought put into it it seems.

I have to agree with you!
As long as the the SP campaign is finished and MP is there, all the other stuff I can wait for.

That’s on 343i for being incompetent then.
I can’t think of a single studio that spent 3 years on JUST the engine, let alone a studio that employs over 1000 people and has been working on this franchise for over a decade.
Even if they did spent 3 years just working on the engine, that’s STILL 3 whole years to make the game!
Bungie could deliver the entire product (engine and all) in 3 years or less. It wasn’t always perfect, but with the time, resources and experience 343i now have with the Halo franchise, this is just unacceptable.
For perspective, Rockstar spent 6 years on RDR2, which was a far bigger and more ambitious undertaking than Halo Infinite.

Well that on turn is a false narrative.
Slipspace is a blam engine upgrade. Like h2 to h3 or any title in the franchise. I’m sure covid caused issues but that begs the question why they still shot to release prematurely. And did so a second time.
Let’s be real it seems more likely then went through multiple changes in direction amd the goal post kept moving during production. Something that does not bode well. It screams trend chasing. And that hasn’t worked so far.
Sure they seemed to have eventually gone back to halo design choices but it seems pretty clear the development was toubled someone up the ladder thought its fine cause live service.
But live service isn’t an excuse for established ip billed as the next core installment to launch lacking.
This is why most use spinoff structures to avoid backlash. Apex wasnt called titanfall for a reason. Warzone didn’t replace traditional launches although that’s its own quagmire.
Pubg and crossfire use the same ip management logic.
The they built an engine excuse falls flat.
Most dev cycles run in tandem with engine upgrades.
Every mgs game aside from perhaps V, Rockstar, annual cods, gears at epic, etc.
We ripped out about 60 percent of our engine going from our first title to our second, not a comparable scope as a halo title but the point is engine work is part of game production so however we slice it its been in production to some degree for 6 years.

Do we have a source for that?
I don’t really doubt it, both Bungie and 343 already claimed “new engine” in the past when it actually was still the old one, so there’s precedence for it. But I would like a link I can quote in the future.

Look up halo 5 code in infinite flight should give you something. H5G was “new engine” but they are all built on legacy tech.

Some content creators say their “insider’s” have told them the new engine wasn’t rebuilt entirely from scratch. They pulled any system that wouldn’t be able to scale up, and reworked those from scratch. (The context of what they mean by scaling wasn’t provided, and this could mean a couple different things in software development, it’s not always just scaling up the volume something can handle.)
But there are some bits of the legacy code from the Blam! engine still in there. That part of the “insider’s info” was corroborated in the last 343 employee spotlight that came out.
It’s an interesting approach, but it does name sense to not start a brew engine entirely from scratch. Before that info came out I’ve always been wondering how hard it would be to keep the “feel” of Halo on a brand new engine.
