So I don’t mean to really get on the recent influx of newer players on Halo 5. We were all there, and it took time for all of us to get accustomed to the game. But one issue I keep seeing is that a lot of them desert a match either before it even begins or midway through, the latter being usually because the team they were on was losing. Sometimes it got as bad as this: I played a match of CtF where by the time the enemy team had made two flag captures, all of my teammates (who were rather new to the game) had all deserted me. It can really do a number on your rank in ranked playlists. So… any of you people out there had similar experiences? How might we limit this? And to any new players out there, why do people like you do this?
- H5 has awful servers
- 343 don’t know what party based matchmaking is
- They also don’t know how to set up a ranking system
- Much of the maps suck and frame rate kills it even further.
im no quitter but I guarantee these would be why most would quit. H5 is so unbalanced so I can see why people would quit.
I’ve noticed a lot of quitting lately as well. I’d really like to see more strict bans.

What you don’t understand is people who probably leave have way through are looking for a chill game and find competitive people right off the bat. And that’s what this game is. It’s not made for social people cause 343 doesn’t care about social gameplay. If they did, Dual Wielding, Elites, and other fun gametypes would be in Halo 5.

The op did mention ranked play which I gave my info on.
regardless I think it’s YOU who doesn’t understand what social play really is. Social is unranked no stat (which 343 forgot) play with looser parameters. Hidden ranks are still in play to at least keep people relatively close in terms if skill or else you’ll end up with the best playing the vs the worst. However hidden ranks mean little if a population isn’t good enough to support it. When I play social I am relaxing because I don’t need to worry about my rank or stats, I’ll still try for that W but I don’t care about the L. I’m not going to miss -Yoink- on purpose or ignore callouts just cuz it’s deemed social. I may even you around with weapons I never use in ranked play but my point still stands. When you use the term “relax” in social it’s going to vary person to person, I just gave you mine. If you want closer matched games, ranked play is it as nonranked is to unbalanced for it.
i could give you an essay on 343 actually catering to the casual group as well, especially considering everything post launch, EVERYTHING has been for that side.
Dual wielding sucked anyways and while I support playable elites they don’t just make a game more social, they are just a character skin.

I think the point Zen is making (or trying to make) is that these elements are not beneficial to e-sports, which is clearly very important to 343i (and should be considering how the e-sport industry is growing), In that respect, they are more “social” elements.

Dual wielding, doesn’t matter if it sucked to you. It was fun to other people. And I know elites don’t make a game more social. These things that 343 took away from us is what made some parts of Halo fun. I miss elites for Machinimas. The Forgotten Spartans, Rise of The Spartans. Both had awesome Sangheili voice actors. My favorite Elite themed Machinima’s were Heretic, and Brotherhood.

And Action Sack wouldn’t effect your win/loss ratio. Nor would they have removed the ability to choose what gametype you play, something I STILL don’t understand to this day. We dont even get a veto…
I mean, lets be honest here we have all rage quit in the past but think about it, yes it sucks that its on your expense but really? another forum post complaining about “Rage Quitting” First in foremost, if you’re playing something like slayer and they are going 1-7 odds are its better they left for your sake so they are not just feeding kills, but there is obviously multiple scenarios which would cause a rage quit such as, as I said earlier if you’re something like 1-7 you’re getting slaughtered how much fun are you going to be having. (especially if you’re trying your hardest and still getting owned as well as the A Holes who TBag dont help xD) I understand winning a 1v4 in CTF is a much different story, at least the potential three new/bad players act as good distractions / bullet shields, But (What I was saying about the Another forum post debaiting rage quits it would be very nice if your rank was based on constant and good preformances rather than a win or a loss.) there are very few solutions many people can think of that would not be stupidly hard to implement (I.E 343I would not waste their time cause general gameplay is incredible as well as H6 and HW2 being on the way, everything is really well balanced except for the odd kid who has cheated the match maker with his smurf account and has yet to leave his room this week and finds going 50-0 against noobs more impressive then being a level 130 playing other 130’s who match his skill level going even 1kd+).
Possibly have it where you have to be rank 20 or 30 to do ranked I could see 50. I never ran to this problem but I can see why this can be a problem

We don’t need stricter bans, we NEED Halo 5 to get it’s act together, the game is severely flawed. Let’s look at it like this, if Halo CE through Reach were described as Clone Troopers, Halos 4 and 5 would be descriped as General Krell.

Why is it spartan rank is the equivalent to skill? Yes this being a better option then nothing, but not by much I feel I’m an above average player (Despite my service record which I have a perfectly good explaination for if you would like to hear it although its not even that bad, feel free to look) I am currently a level 95 but much much before this rank (I’d say mid-late 50’s) I would beat a lot of level 130+ players with ease.
Like every game you progress in Via levels, YOU DONT NEED TO BE GOOD TO PROGRESS FAR (Granted I’m unaware of the current level cap if there even is one I thought it was 150 give or take but I’m seeing players exceed those levels) Say for this particular example there is a level cap and its level 100, Yes someone who can play 25/8 will be the first one to the finish line that is the rank 100 Well. a casual or even a below average player presuming they play a couple games then get off for the week they are going to reach level 100, yes It will take a lot longer to achieve level 100, but are you telling me someone who can put in 50 hours a week and someone who puts maybe 10 a week are going to be the same skill level?

I know it was the only solution I could think of as I was writing it I thought the same thing. At least this way they know how bull**** rank is and won’t quit as much. Idk I usually play with onyxs and it’s rare for them to quit so I never ran to this problem. I guess they either don’t care or just the average okay basd is ranked there so more people means more people who are likely to rage quit.
I do think they should enforce the has of quitting more. Like have a system in place where it can tell if you rage quitted or disconnected. It’s possible games like overwatch and rainbow have that. If the person quits automatic ban. If he disconnects keep it the same as it is now or allow them to rejoin. Idk

Well a simple way around getting banned (temp banned from ranked playlist) would to just intentionally disconnect your internet and even the automatic / automated temp bans you get are kind of dumb (I’ve been on both sides of the fence) I’ve been TEMP BANNED for 18 hours back when I first started playing The H5 servers were really bad for about a week but all we can really hope for is in H6 maybe a properly executed well developed system is put inplace to sway people away from rage quitting (Dont take this as a call out FYI, Just find it strange seeing a lot of people suggest things like playlist unlocks after reaching a certain rank although like I said, me being mid level 50 at the time have beaten probably up to level 145 players).
As a newcomer - this is a really big pain for me. Im grinding thru rankings and i can lose few games strictly cuz some people quit. Yesterday I’ve played 5 games and 3 games was 3v4, 2v4 and best one 1v4, me as a lone wolf against guy who was running 3-4 back o back with rockets and over shield. Nice experience. I was Diamond and dropped to Platinum after this games. I deserve this? I think not.
- Quitting should be banned or whatever.
- If you play 3v4 or less such games shouldn’t touch your rank. NEVER.
The sad fact is you can NEVER properly deal with rage quitters. Even if you have the perfect matchmaking system and ace servers, plenty of people will quit because “my team is garbage” syndrome. Seriously, I’ve seen people rage quit from perfectly winnable games with no connection issues (Just recently had a dude quit while we were losing a Strongholds match with a whopping 10 points!). Granted, Halo 6 can certainly benefit from having a more solid networking base at launch and casual playlists available from day 1 (proper BTB is a must, IMO).

So Krell wanted to kill the Clones on Umbara to join the darkside but the same Clones later killed most Jedi on other planets.
So in your example Halo CE and the rest will later kill other Halogames but without a reason?
I also not recommend you to use Krell in examples due his realtivly unknowness among peoples.
I know I have. I was playing a slayer match on tyrant, and my friend was forced of the game because he jumped of the cliff by accident a few to many times, and after that, I just keep seeing people quit until it’s just me and 3 other people, 2v2. Eventually, the other guy on my team quit, so I just ran in circles to help pass the 1 minute left in the game. I think we can stop it by teaching every one who doesn’t already know how to report to report.
