What do you guys think about being able to start with the Noob Combo? Does anybody who’s played the E3 build have anything to say about it? Is the Plasma Pistol’s lock-on nerfed?

We haven’t heard if we get an ability that -Yoink!- us against Plasma Pistol I’m hoping there is.

I know but most people use the lock-on most of the time (either way it’s still the Noob Combo)
i guess this will be the primary reason to why i’ll be using the Hardlight shield more than anything else…

Wastes less ammo as well. The Overcharge takes what, 10 bolts per shot?

lock on makes it easier to drain the shields thats why people use it, a few quick shots is just as good, it is going to be a big pain having people spawn with the PP because it is a semi power power weapon, capable of draining your shields in one shot, such weapons you should not be able to spawn with because it makes it incredibly easy to get kill, nullifies vehicles and reduces the skill gap.
PP as a secoundary option must go.
With thruster Pack, and Hardlight shield, that probably won’t be a problem.
I believe the lock-on for overcharge has been nerfed, and the base damage as well. 343 wants all of the secondaries to actually fill a secondary role this time around. The magnum will no longer be a short-range BR/DMR, and the Plasma pistol won’t be the easy-EMP gun.

the longer you hold it the more charge you loose, spaming i find to also be more effective when i need it, at least in reach.

It was harder for me to emp someone I believe… And I think I also saw a few failed EMPs on the warthog.

That’s really good to hear, I’m more of a Magnum guy myself so I will either use that or that Promethean pistol (I forget the name)

Damage has been nerfed and optimal range is much shorter than reach. It still has a scope, but the bloom/recoil will be terrible for use in anything but close range.
I believe this is mostly to balance out the fact that a secondary can now be wielded with a flag. IF the secondaries were too powerful, then somebody could easily 1-man in ctf.
Most noobs and current players aren’t smart enough to use it anyways. In BTB i’m the only person to pick it up 99.9% of the time.

I use it every now and then but I honestly do prefer the 4 bodyshots to headshot with a DMR or just going all out and finding the nearest Rocket Launcher

They shouldn’t call it a Magnum then if it’s nerfed lol because when I hear Magnum I think this.
the magnum is going to be plenty powerful for the purpose it is serving. im sure that 6sk is still accepteble to h3’s like 8 or 10sk or what ever rediculousness it was… plus it has a scope, so its OBVIOUSLY still going to be effective outside of short - med range in hands of skilled player like it was in reach. the reason its nerfed is to give it a secondary weapon feeling to where it can only top the primary’s (br DMR etc) due to its firing speed. its still a handy weapon to say the least. but more of a finnisher than a all out battle weapon.
I hate the idea of spawning with PP or stickies .
Both just sounds terrible .
I hope they were just for the earlyer builds …
Why is everybody complaining about this? I rarely saw it in Halo 3 and saw it just as much in Reach too. I’m also talking about Invasion and Elite Slayer where you spawn with the PP. It really didn’t happen that often and when it did it caught me by complete surprise because I wasn’t expecting it.
