i am curious why people hate Halo 5 so much. So far from what I have experienced it is hundreds of times better than Halo 4 was and with a cohesive and comprehensible story to boot. I am much more pleased with 5 than I ever have been with 4.
Difference of opinion.
Old school Halo players vs New players of the franchise.
Slightly different control scheme (This was personally my biggest gripe until they fixed it)
The look of the Spartan armor (minor but it’s there)
The push for more competitive multiplayer.
The lack of split screen (again, more old school vs new school)
There are too many reasons people can hate on a game. And really, Dev’s can’t please everyone. They can only try to appease the majority.
I’ve been playing since day one of CE. This is the best Halo by far.
The multiplayer is solid. Campaign sucked. I too played since CE.

A lot of people hated halo 4 too.
That said, I find halo 5’s story absolutely terrible, 4’s was leagues ahead of it.

More accurately: 343 devs can either follow what made Halo great, or what made other FPSs good.
They have chosen the latter.
I honestly prefer Halo 4 in every way, but Halo 5 is a very good game. The difference is that there are a lot of people that had made the game less and less enjoyable. But with the Warzone Firefight update, it’ll be enjoyable again.
Been playing since Halo 2 but did play Halo CE on both Xbox and PC before Halo 3 in 2007 (good Christmas for me), and I’ve played every Halo except for Spartan Assault/Strike. I really like Halo 5. Compared to 4 however, Halo 4 had the better story. Halo 5 had the better multiplayer. In my opinion.
I feel like they made everything too good.
The AR was never people’s go to weapon to kill, but now that thing will kill with bullets to spare.
SMG? It was pretty decent, but, like the AR, made better now that it will drop people like nothing.
BR? It was always good, still is, but since everything is pretty good now, is easy to lose encounters with.
Armor? Looks eh. Some good armor is in the game, though.
Modes? Good now, but I mean come on! Many modes should have been there from the start, especially Infection and Firefight.
And don’t get me f**king started on REQs.
Because Halo 5 was a disappointment of a game. Campaign sucked, sure they brought back the arena game play but that all they focused on and did not make a very enjoyable MP experience and lets not forget the cash grab warzone, hardly any playlists and 343 just sucks in general.
My frustration with Halo 5 comes from 343i always going one step forward and another step back in almost every single aspect of the game. For campaign they created better, more open level design, but delivered a disappointing story that does a disservice to Halo’s characters and the fanbase for it was nothing like what was advertised. Multiplayer has returned to equal starts and gives players free DLC, but has overall mediocre map design and the REQ system (which is a necessary evil, but I think it could have been done in a much better way). There’s a lot more that I don’t want to get into right now, but I think fans - no matter which Halo they’ve started with - are frustrated with the business model 343i has chosen for Halo 5 where what should be day one content is withheld for months to be delivered as DLC and their inability to deliver a full and satisfying Halo experience.
I find the campaigns of both Halo 4 and 5 to be pretty naff. Plenty of bad, boring characters and blatant-marketed-as-subtle characterization that’s incredibly amateurish.
I found Halo 4’s multiplayer to be absolutely wretched.
However, Halo 5’s multiplayer is almost as good as Reach’s, but has so many features I wanted in Reach, such as the ability to clamber, that I rank it above in several ways. I take points off for having the “Balanced” Rifle though. Reach still comes up mostly on top as a result.
My Halo experience started with MCC, new to the franchise. Halo 5 is the least favorite game. Halo 4 was at least fun.
I’d like to know what you felt the strengths to the story are if you think a story like Halo 5’s, where for example a character like the Warden Eternal just shows up and we get nothing about who he really is or what he really is, is more coherent and comprehensive than Halo 4’s.
In terms of Campaign, this is probabably the worst campaign in the entire series, even ODST’s short campaign was miles ahead of Halo 5’s.
Multiplayer is fantastic though.
i agree with you but i also the reason why people didnt like it its fine to hate but when you do it publicly so much that everyone see’s that it is annoying sorry if my spelling is crap my keys on my keyboard are stiking togather from a little soda spilt on them

Issues like splitscreen and control schemes can appease both old and new. Simply have it there and let the players choose.
