Why the heck do you give every 4v4 player BR starts but on huge maps I have to scramble to find a BR as a ‘’ power weapon’’? It’s sooo stupid that on big maps you don’t get a BR to start to shoot at long ranges yet on small 4v4 you do. Explain that deluded logic.
My guess is if you remember how halo 3’s heat maps worked you can see where the majority of confrontations and movement take place. Since your able to tag individuals, the confrontations areas would turn more into lanes. Take for example the map Fragmentation. With there really only being 5 lanes (2 for vehicles, the outside for power weapon vaults and the center interior of the building) a 12-man squad with BRs, with enough coordination could team shot those choke points at an alarming rate. it would also make most vehicles ineffective. So long as the spawn didn’t switch the other team would be force to either pick up the same tactic or die. By forcing AR starts on this map, there is then a bigger rush to pick up equipment, power weapons, and to actually use the vehicles. For example, 36 rounds per BR magazine. it takes 1 person 5 magazines to destroy 1 vehicle. divided by 12 individuals on a team, each player would only have to land 5 3-round burst a piece to destroy the warthog. 6 if, someone gets killed. Even less if you take into account head shots landed on driver/gunner. The BR would break that map. You also have to remember that 343i wanted to crank 12v12 up to a higher number. Now imagine a team mentally memorizes, spawns. timing, and understand how to keep asserted map control to where they spawn on their side you would have the worst BTB game ever. It would be similar the 1v1 sniper spawn kill videos on guardian from halo 3. That has to be my guess. however, I do think they should have more BR spawns on the map.
Only ranked has BR starts. what do you mean? its social and BR is too powerful. AR/Pistol starts makes things more varied and no one sticks to one weapon at all times.
BR makes the game boring. Keep your BR for ranked. Majority of players want social and fun, to have and enjoy all the weapons Halo is best known for.
BR starts in every other BTB playlist since Halo 2-5. BR doesn’t ruin games nor discourage going after opponents because if a long range weapon works on rabked 4v4 playlists, why wouldn’t it work on larger maps. If BR starts didn’t work, Bungie wouldn’t have made it the default weapon in multiplayer from Halo 2-5. BTB used to be split into 2 playlists( and should be today, considering high player count). Unrsnked BTB slayer and ranked BTB Skitmish( BTB objective genes)- 1 or 2 bomb assault, 1 or 2 CTF, snd territories.
maybe I get matched with different people then you but when i paly social all people do is gather and wait at the br spawn if there happens to be a br on the map… not very “varied” if you ask me
I like AR starts as it encourages players to actually move around the map for different weapons and increases vehicle use. With BR starts the majority of players tend to camp to much.
That just proved my other point. If you had an only BTB Skirmish/BTB objective playlist, the objectives would provide incentive to move & not camp. King of the Hill (territories) will promote player movement as would 2 flag CTF. It removes the set of teammates that wish to only slay and not work together or lose sight of the way to win- strategy. Laying back- mid to protect your flag from being stolen. Just my old man rage at no thought put into BTB multiplayer.
Objective games, especially CTF, encourages camping even more. Not to mention players/teams who ignore objectives to pad their K/Ds as they steamroll other teams. I don’t like objective at all in any mode really. I prefer good ol slayer and AR starts… Not saying I don’t like or want BR starts… We should have both like MCC. You can select whether you want Precision or Auto starts.
That.’s why BTB should be split, like H2, into ranked BTB Objective and unranked social BTB Slayer. Just like Halo 2 had it. The massive population is large enough to be split, as it almost always has the most players.
If all players in BTB started with BR’s nobody would move half map. Majority, if not all, players would camp spawn base. Those naive enough to attempt to move half map, would be immediately lazered by multiple enemy players once spotted. All game modes in BTB would come down to which team could do the most with vehicles; vehicles would determine which team wins or loses.
Why though?
BTB is casual, comp palyers like smaller numbers as easier to control. best to leave it as AR start fun instead of sweaty comp BS BR.
How did Halo 2-5 work with BR/DMR starts in BTB? Curious it worked in 4 halos+ ODST
different balances, In halo 2 you always had the SMG aka Ma5 at your side, in halo 3 you had teh MA5… in reach you had the same set up.
4 everyone dropped it as it was pretty balanced especially seeing as 4 had vehicle focus in BTB more then infantry.
ODST is PvE only and doesnt even have the BR or didn’t until resent updates.
