Regardless of what anyones opinions are, OP has a great point. If you spend money on cosmetic features in a game, you should have the ability to use them however you want to. Its not like anyones complaining about not being able to put elite armor on their spartan. This is spartan armor not being able to be fitted to other spartan armor. Thats never been an issue in the past, and for 343 to make it one is them going backwards in the customization game.
isnt that Yoroi armor free? That seems pretty cool to me. But if they lie in some way, then of course not, thats not acceptable. I am just not sure if the definition of lying is clear here.
I just want to say I’m glad we’ve found a common ground after a rocky start. My biggest issue is with the BP. The store is always gonna look and feel bad, in my opinion. I think you also mentioned earlier comparing the $20 in CoD to Halo. Yeah it’s about equivalent in what you receive.
My biggest gripe is the free player experience, and that’s why I was arguing about the BP. Because I don’t expect free stuff from the store. (Even free handouts in CoD store are mostly stickers or charms, so who cares, really?)
They lied to us. Back in development, they said point blank that the things that were in the battle pass could only be obtained by completing the battle pass. You wouldnt be able to buy any of it. That was a lie.
They said on day 1 there would be so many customization options available that there would be millions of different spartans running around right out of the gates. That was a lie.
They said a lot of other things too that were all lies. I’m not gonna write them all down because theyre all on video saying them. So if you have trouble believing me, well you can believe whatever you want. Ignorance is bliss right?
I am afraid the experience with Battlepass for a free player is supposed to be frustrating to pull you into spending money. Its bad, but thats what every F2P game does. Only not frustrating way is to remove the free battlepass altogether. I dont think they will ever give meanigful free stuff in battlepass as that beats the purpose of actually purchasing battle pass.
But they did give Yoroi armor out for free, so perhaps they will improve it. I just think it will get better now and then it will get much worse.
And again, i think the Battlepass sucks even when purchased.

Anyways, the question is if they plan to implement that promise or not. For a mutliplayer F2P game it had very little technical issues compared to similar releases. If they screwed up this part, but delivered on gameplay part, then thats more important. They should just be very open and clear what they plan to do with MT and why they didnt implement what they said.
Altho i have hard time believing they were suggesting you get battlepass for free and all the content in it? Its the main source of income, so it seems strange they would suggest its completely free. But i have not seen that video, so i dont know, it just does not seem likely they would ever intend to do something like that.
There is A free yoroi set, but both of the armour sets they advertised for this free event are stuck behind a paywall.
Sorry, theres nothing that frustrates me more than lying and manipulation. But anyway youre right, the gameplay is the important part, and so far its a little lacking. Theres no option to pick your game mode (which has never been an issue in past halos, so theyre going backwards again), the custom games dont work, the map types are extremely limited and get old quickly. Like i know this is technically still only a beta, but why would they even get our hopes up and release this at all? The coop campaign and forge got delayed another 3 months which means if we dont get an update to maps, matchmaking, and custom games soon, theres going to be little incentive to continue playing the game beyond the cosmetics. Which means that the cosmetics are an integral part of their game (which they always have been in the past). So in a sense, the cosmetics are another aspext of gameplay. Or at least, they used to be before the existence of the infernal battlepass. Now theyre just another weapon these companies levy against their consumers in a twisted form of psychological warfare that can only be summarized as dystopian.
Dramatic? Only slightly, considering these tactics convince some people to shell out thousands of dollars of money they shouldnt be spending.
Did they advertise the sets are free? I dont know, it just seems to me realy strange to expect that free to play game will give you all cosmetics for free in an event. That being said i dont know what was the wording, if they literally said that you get all cosmetics for free in the even, then they were lying and should be held accountable of course. And community should push for more clear communication from them.
I do agree with pretty much all your points, but i do enjoy the game a lot and i dont find those issues that troubling at this stage. I think some patience would be good. Give them at least 2 months to iron things out, make adjustments etc.
There is so many things they could improve, but in the end, all these things like modes, battlepass are very minor tweaks compared to the whole game itself.
I am also pretty sure there is a separate team working on MT and progressions compared to core gameplay etc. Its also new aspect for Halo franchise ( battlepass and MT ), so them getting it right on the first go was unlikely.

You’re right they didn’t say it that way. They said something of a half truth. It was that the stuff in the BP can’t be purchased from the store, and as such can’t just be bought, you need to rank up the BP through gameplay to unlock it. It’s that last part that was partially true only because leveling up the pass can be done with credits.

A little worse than I remembered.
It was heavily inferred. Furthermore, advertised their battle pass with armours we can’t get and promised tons of customisation for us day one. I get that it isn’t even technically day one yet so maybe things will change but - nah. They advertised this promising it’d be different, and its not.
Its not direct lies but its deceptive. The pricing in the store, £15 for the colour white restricted to one armour core? No way ho-say.
The fact that there are even more egregious examples you can think of in the industry does not mean it’s done “well” here. There are plenty of games that use the Battlepass system in a far less greedy, far more consumer friendly way, even in the F2P genre - which this hardly qualifies as to begin with, they literally just sliced the multiplayer out of their existing product and repackaged it.
The model they used here is decent on paper - far better than the typical lootbox model, certainly - but the implementation is disgraceful.

Literally nobody on this forum is complaining that they have microtransactions. You could pour through this forum for hours and not find a single person saying “this game should not have any form of microtransaction”. People are complaining about the implementation and the progression tied to it.
I am not fully up to date on all the stuff they said, but as far i know, levelling up battlepass is common thing in most games with battlepass, but you still have option to level it up without purchasing levels. I am not saying i like it, but its standard way of doing battlepass and they are not doing anything strange here with this.
If they are deceptive, then you should hold them accountable and voice your concers of course. But i dont think that because they did not mention in their promotional video, that you can upgrade battlepass with credits, its necessary deceptive.
I honestly dont like much any of this personally, and if there is huge pushback, which makes everything free, great. I just doubt it.

I hope the customization gets better as well. Its very limited and not very appealing to me right now. As i mentiond before, i have zero interest in battlepass or customization because the limited content and inability to mix and match stuff you unlocked or purchased.
I am not saying you should celebrate the current system. It will always suck anyway, because its embeded in these systems, that they are predatory and try to pull money out of players. That being said the fact that it is relatively better system to other games is important and should be taken into account. It easily could have been on par with those or even worse.
I would want to hear what F2P games have better implementation of battlepass in your opinion. I genuinely am interested, to get an idea how someone does it better. It would be also good to specificaly explain what they do better, since you suggest there are better versions, so that 343 can take a look at that and consider implementing it.
I have seen a lot of people here complaining about the existence of MT and that it does not belong to Halo. And btw i have no issue at all with people complaining about it. I am just of opinion that F2P system will in the end work out much better for Halo popularity and amount of people playing the game.
CoD 2019 Warzone I felt like I got quite a bit of stuff I enjoyed on the free tier of the BP. I unlocked a skin for free that I loved and that I use permanently. And it had challenges to unlock the specific look, again for free, that I still use and have used almost since the start.
Idk where, but I have a ton of double xps for it too, and I don’t think they were from filler content on the BP. But they must’ve been, idk where else I got them. Lol. So if they were on the BP, it didn’t feel like it because it wasn’t half of the free tiers.
Yup kinda did the same thing just to find out that I cant use it on multiple armor sets…That needs to be change to let us use it on any armor sets
I dont know how Warzone BP works realy, but i am assuming it works just like here ( free tiers and upgrade to get everythig )? I watched few minutes of this video and all i understand is that in free version all you get in first 20 levels is like 4 stickers and 1 weapon? Based on this, it seems BP here in Halo is actually great, but perhaps i am missing something.
