Non Canonical Story DLC

I’m not a big Multiplayer guy but i do love the campaign mode of Halo and the story and lore. What if when Infinite releases, we get story DLC in the form of short campaigns of 3 or 4 levels where Master Chief and all the other characters get plucked out of the universe and dropped into random non canonical stories. It would be a good way for the writers to blow off some steam and write crazy stories that aren’t connected to the main game and they don’t have to worry about messing up the lore. Each DLC could have it’s own theme such as a horror story. Like the chief wakes in a dead city that turns out to be haunted or something. Or a comedy where the covenent went back in time and kidnapped Keanu Reeves because they found all the memes and thought he was some sort of god to humans and chief goes back in time to stop them. Anything really, I think it would be a fun way to expand the single player experience without 343 having to worry about lore and leave them time to work on the next Halo game while keeping fans entertained. Just a thought. What do you guys think?

I like the idea of having short story campaigns. I would prefer that they be canon and linked to the universe though. You can still do weird fun stories in universe and have them be cannon just like ODST. I would personally love to see a horror spin off and with the information they provided on the new slip space engine with it being easier to produce content then this could actually be a real possibility.

yeah canonical could work too they could do a story that runs parallel to whats happening in the main games. Or small prequel stories to the games. Like nobles last mission that killed their original Noble Six or a mission against the rebels or Master Chiefs first mission. I think they could do some really cool stuff with small campaign DLC. It would be good for the fans and generate interest and revenue for 343/Microsoft.

If we’re talking non-canonical…

RED.

VS.

BLUE.

And then they go and canonize the Odd One Out story and Spartan 1337 :stuck_out_tongue:

While I appreciate the idea of Campaign DLC, that didn’t work out with Spartan Ops (Though I blame the game itself more so than the mode) so I can’t see them giving it a second shot. Then again, there’s Operation: Spearbreaker and Awakening the Nightmare in Halo Wars 2 so who knows.

Even if Spartans Ops wasn’t good, the idea behind it was a good one and if it had been handled correctly it could have been a strong point of Halo 4.
Personnally, I would like to play short, multiplayer or solo, missions with my own custom spartan.

The only strong point of Halo 4 to me - the story aside - was Dominion. A precursor to Warzone, I spent almost all of my Multiplayer time in Big Team hoping to get a game of Dominion going. If I wasn’t in BTB, you could find me in Action Sack xD
But yeah, SpOps was a fun thing for a while, but after they canceled Season 2… Well, yeah

Fireteam Crimson returns? Honestly that’d be pretty cool for those folks who really want to “Be” their Spartan. Since we’ll never get that with the Master Chief since he is his own person and always was. Some side-story or game where we’re the ones going on the adventure and not an established character with their own long running backstory and personality would be a neat concept.
