How come nobody ever plays custom games on reach? I remember on halo 2 and halo 3 full lobbies were so easy to setup. In reach i can only get like 3 people to join and then they leave. I find it strange especially since reachs forge mode is a lot better. Even on different forums custom games seemed to have died. I miss playing zombies and racing with like 10 people =(.
you want to play customs now
I don’t find custom games nearly as amusing in Reach as they were in Halo 3. Inevitably, someone wants to play some crappy Infection custom game which is stupid to me. So I just avoid them.
Yeah, for some reason most custom games and maps just aren’t well made and aren’t fun. They cater to what the creator of the map likes, and so that person is happy and no one else.
Custom games died after Halo 3
I do…

Above statement. Awhile ago I became friends with this guy while in firefight because we made a good team when everybody else dropped out. Every day he invites me and every day I decline because when I join it’s always speed halo. It was fun the first few times but it gets old fast. I would love to play the maps featured on achievement hunter’s HORSE videos. Who wants to become a HORSE?
Or a pig if there isn’t enough time. Avalanche I would love to play but infection is only entertaining for maybe ten minutes at a time.
Speed halo is the worst gametype EVER. I don’t see how it’s fun careening down the tunnel with zero control for 10 minutes at a time. Half the time I can go get a drink, come back, and my hog is still flying. No thanks.
Speed Halo killed Reach. Not armor lock, not bloom, not lack of shield bleedthrough. Speed Halo.
At least that’s my theory.
And that’s where you’re all wrong, let me explain what killed Halo Reach custom games:
In Halo 3, we had multiple maps to forge on, new and fresh ideas, multiple objects, each map with their own, unique, objects, no grey objects, etc.
However, in Halo Reach, this was killed. It’s like they didn’t want people to make good maps or enjoy custom games. The maps were all grey and boring, for the most part. It was just rushed. There should’ve been another forge maps, at least.
I didn’t go into much detail, but you can tell that is the main reason why not as many people play Halo Reach’s custom games.
Thank God this problem has been addressed in Halo 4.

You’re just a grouchy psychopath.
Reach’s forge was better and Halo 3 custom games was fun, but I know how you feel ever since I got Minecraft on the xbox my friends barely play custom game.
What? I play customs in Reach all the time!
You can thank the stupid credit system for that.
I have 12 people on my friends list who are always playing custom games. They usually play the newest map by darthhuman(on the forge epidemic) or their favorite maps. Somebody made a 13 map Halo campaign.

These guys made some good custom games, including crash up derby and avalanche. They’re quite good, and you need some good people. The Halo 3 maps aren’t going to be as fun in Halo 3 as it is in Reach, because Reach is it’s own unique engine and plays 100% differently than Halo 3.
If you have the right games, and the right people, custom games will always be fun!
I don’t think I ever played a custom game in reach as like an actual match against other players. I’ve done so many customs in Halo 3 (and still do) though.
The gametype label system makes it harder to set up Custom Games, and the credit system removes a large amount of the incentive to play them.
The label system should’ve had a tutorial, and the labels should have been hooked up to some kind of alias system (so that “AS_GOAL”, for example, shows up as “Assault Goal”, and “INF_SPAWN” shows up as “I Don’t Actually Do Anything”), so that more people could use them.
The credit system should’ve not existed.

Definately. It also made normal Slayer type maps less likely to have compatibility with, say, infection, because the creator doesn’t know that Havens are required to be placed.

Oh, yes. There definitely needed to be some Megalo-side error handling, such as greying out the “HAVENS” option if none are placed on the currently-selected map (and showing errors only for gametypes that already have them enabled).
Likewise for all Race variants being broken on Powerhouse because the map doesn’t support Banshees, and stuff like that.
Wow i didn’t expect so many replies =D I appreciate the input from everyone. Anyone that said they would like to play feel free to add me gt- “im jello”

Mind adding me? I’d love to play with you guys =).
