Does anybody else think it’d be sweet if Microsoft/343 commissioned a novel about Noble Team and the events before and after the Reach game? I still believe there’s HUGE potential in the characters and setting with a plethora of themes and ideas to explore.
How did Jun escape Reach? Why is Emile so cold and violent? What was the purpose of teams like Noble and how did they function? Are there other surviving SPARTAN-III pullouts? How did Kat feel about Thom’s death? Or losing her arm? What happened to Jorge’s old squadmates?
I could go on and on. It could be set up with Jun being debriefed on the events of Reach; He could explain his background and that of his squadmates, and fill in some of the gaps in the game as well. The fan comic A Fistful of Arrows is an incredibly good template for this.
Emile is cold towards insurrectionists, because they occupied his planet and his brother sacrificed himself so he could get away, and one of the pullout s who might be alive is rosenda she was apart of noble team who was supposed to switch with emile in case of an insurrectionists op,she was cut from the game though
No. Noble team are really bland characters. The blooding years deserve novels not a squad of dead Spartans with barely any personality (except 2 of them).

More reason to give them a Novel then, if they were given a novel there back story’s and characteristics would be more fleshed out and they would become less “bland”.

It could tie into newer events; Perhaps the artifact on Reach could come into new significance just like the Ark and Installation 4. And if they add other S-III teams, possible survivors could become Spartan-IV’s at the current point in the timeline.

Having a book about 'Barutamee, or the Blooding Years, or the Dawn or Joori’s Light would be far better about a team of mostly dead characters that have no role in the modern setting.
There seems to be two different opinions on this thread so far, and they both have valid points. The first being that most of Noble team were kinda bland characters, and a book about them/their backstory would help flesh them out - we could even include some parts of the more modern day; what happened to Jun (at least flesh that out more), how he got out, that kind of thing. And we could bring back the artifact that Halsey was examining. Maybe something during the events of Halo 5 triggered it again.
The other opinion I’ve see can be put simply: those characters are dead, leave them dead. Now, I understand that there would be a lot better people/events to create a novel about. It honestly wouldn’t make sense right now for 343i/Microsoft to create anything about Noble Team.
My thoughts? If/when there is an anniversary or remake of Halo Reach, have the novel come out then, or at least have there be talk of it. I would love to see more information or a back story on Noble Team; Reach was one of my favorite of the Halo games.

I’m not saying that can’t happen, I’m just saying I’d like a book about Noble Team at some point. Hell, they’re releasing like four books back to back in the near future, so it’s obviously well within their capacity to have multiple projects in the works at once.
And why do you feel exploring the past has no relevance to the present or future? Why do you feel it’d be a waste of time to explain some of the bigger questions with one of the major titles in the franchise?

So you complain about dead characters getting a book because they were bland, and then you suggest to make a book about an obscure side character with no personality at all?

I don’t think Rosenda is canon though. It’d be cool if she was brought into the book though (if it were to be written).
Thats why I think a novel like this would be cool, so we could possibly learn more about Noble and the people tied to them as well. It’d be cool to know what the original Noble Six was like and what kind of relationship he had with the squad as well.
I would totally read a prequel novel about Noble Team and the various members’ exploits pre-Reach. Definitely some really good potential for interesting stories there.

Agreed, there is a whole lot of back story that can be expanded upon, and Jun still active in the present so something that expands on him and his team mates like a novelization of that fall of reach ad where the original noble 6 dies.

Rho 'Barutamee has more personality than Kat and Noble Six in Halo Reach. He has great storytelling potential and his story can give us far more info on the Forerunner artifacts on Reach, unlike Noble team which had no knowledge about the Forerunners and for the most part members of the team were separated into groups during Halo Reach. Noble team doesn’t deserve a fully fledged novel. The plot point of Spartans overwhelmed by the Covenant and winning at the cost of Forerunner artifacts has been done to death. If you want another story about Reach then any character located there is a better character for storytelling compared to Noble team and has more storytelling potential than them.
Let’s see some things that deserve books with some desperately needing them.
1)Rho 'Barutamee and a covenant side to the fall of reach.
2)Jiralhanae during the Fall of High Charity
3)The blooding years needs several novels as it’s the conflict that sets the modern setting but for some reason the brass wants nothing to do with the arbiter’s war.
4)The Swords of Sanghelios need a book as we have no clue how large that faction is.
5)Jul 'Mdama needs a book telling as the course of the war on Sanghelios as well as what between the events of the Absolute Record arc and Halo 5.Like how his faction collapsed and what happened to his fleet, Knights, the song of retribution, etc
6)Kig-Yar and the other species of the galaxy also deserve focus.
Stories like these expand the characters and the universe as a whole something Spartan II or III stories are failing to achieve at the moment because they all fall within the same established plot trope, something that Noble team cannot avoid as their story is already established.

The fan comic “A Fist Full of Arrows” really gave them life, more than the game ever did.

Rosenda is definitely canon. A novel detailing the back-stories and personalities of Noble Team would be incredibly interesting, but it wouldn’t be relevant in the slightest unless it involved the backstories of a prominent character in the modern setting.
I’d rather see a sequel novel to The Cole Protocol so we can find out what Grey Team are up to.

I can agree with that. Cole Protocol is probably my favorite Halo novel so I’d dig a sequel to that as well.

Their story in the Reach game is established, yes, but they have a backstory full of possibilities; shady black ops missions and excursions against the Insurrection and the Covenant. Since they were so “bland” in Reach, it gives the author a pretty large amount of creative freedom with the characters, so long as they keep them within their “niche” characteristics shown in the game.
But again, I’m not saying your ideas are bad or not needed, I’m saying I’d love to see Noble fleshed out because the concept of their team is interesting and some of their backstories have amazing potential.

Things like this didn’t stop them from bringing back the squad from ODST and killing off the Rookie in time for Halo 5.

That’s a pretty poor comparison. Alpha 9’s return set in motion the events for Buck to appear as a Spartan in Halo 5.
Unless Jun becomes a main character in Halo 6, there’s no need to revisit long-dead characters.
