So I’ve been playing Halo Reach for quite a while. I have all the map packs, and it seems like the only maps I can play now are the Anniversary one, or the regular maps that came with the game. Is it just the people I’m playing with don’t have the maps? Or is there a certain playlist for them? I’ve looked at all the playlist and didn’t see one involving either of the map packs. Could anybody care explaining why any of this is, what’s going on, or how I can play on the Noble & Defiant map packs again, because I really miss these maps.
The Noble and Defiant packs used to have a dedicated pair of playlists called Premium Slayer and Premium Battle, but 343 removed them when they went through with the Reach title updates because they weren’t used very often.
They have however said that people who have the map packs will get matched up more often (with the DLC maps showing up in the usual playlists), though it’s only happened to me once since October.
What get’s me is that the three new Defiant achievements and the Anniversary achievements require to be gotten on one of those maps. I think it’s ridiculous because nobody in Big Team Battle or any other playlist for that matter seems to have the Defiant packs. It makes me wonder why they even removed the Premium playlists if they were going to require you play on a DLC map to get an achievement.
You pretty much need a full party now to get them, as no one except us diehards have it. If you are in a full party, they are guaranteed to show up in at least one of the slots to vote for. I’ve been trying to do DLC lobbies, but it is very difficult without guests, and I got credit banned today for it.
I got to play condemned yesterday, it was awesome, other than that i always get the piece of -Yoink- forge maps.
With the removal of the dedicated DLC playlists, you now either have to get together a full party (e.g. 8 players for Team Slayer, 16 for BTB) of people who have the map packs, or you have to get extremely lucky when being matched with randoms.
As for the removal of the dedicated DLC playlists, I don’t really understand why 343i did that. Yes, they did have (very) low populations, but at least they allowed you to play the DLC you paid for whenever you wanted. I’d really love a new DLC-only playlist where Noble and Defiant are required, and Anniversary is optional. Although I’m pretty sure it won’t happen, I can still hope.
This issue needs to be fixed.
Since I have all the DLC, I’d prefer playlists to just be locked unless you have the DLC and to have DLC specific playlists as well.
Add things, don’t take things away.
This is another reason why premium DLC is a waste of time. It separates the community, because most won’t buy it and for those that do you eventually don’t get to play the content you paid for anyway. I’m glad I got them when they were cheap last year.
I don’t care how few people played the Premium Playlists, they should exist for those of us that did part with our money, so we at least have the choice to play or not, instead of just not.
I hate that Breakpoint is not its own playlist, because it is impossible to find in matchmaking. At least I got that achievement in the Premium battle playlist

Because they, as much as Bungie, are lacking common sense with Reach.
Yea I also want the playlists back because I’m one of those gamers who want all the achievements and it’s so hard to get the map pack achievements without the playlists.

How many games were you able to play? Did you switch off with your guest controllers?
It pisses me off that those playlists were removed. Because honestly, what are the chances of being in a match where all of the players have the map packs? Pretty low odds.
Thanks for making me waste money on the map packs. If they do the same thing for halo 4 then I will not be purchasing any map packs. Right now i’m not sure if i’m even going to purchase halo 4 in the first place.
Squad Slayer will be DLC required in the next playlist update.

i have the same problem they took out the defiant and noble map pack playlists. it sucks. i need them back . damn it.
I just purchased both map packs a few days ago and this thread has opened my eyes as to why I’ve yet to see one of the maps come up in any playlist lobby. I’m really disappointed with XBOX and Bungie because I feel like I just flushed $19.96 down the toilet.
Now how i play in Noble & Defiant Map Packs Online Matchmaking.

Wish a mod could just lock these threads after they are answered. Maybe even creat a topic with the link to the Playlist page showing what maps are where and the a basic list of methods to increase players chances of seeing the maps they want.
