I just replayed the Reach campaign, and it reminded me that Cortana originally chose Noble 6 to carry her to The Pillar Of Autumn.
This got me thinking…
What if Noble 6 could have got onto The Pillar Of Autumn? Would Cortana still have been in ‘possession’ of Noble 6?

Noble Six never had Cortana he had a fragment that only contained the coordinates that would lead to Halo. John had the real Cortana the entire time.

Untrue. John-117 was able to fend off Covenant forces at Reach and escaped to the UNSC Pillar of Autumn, while Cortana stayed with Halsey at her excavation site beneath Sword Base. When Catherine had her at sword base she was updating her with the forerunner artifact information. No one ever knew about Halos before CE and was only found because of a random jump and the Arbiter followed them. But it is true Cortina still worked with 117 before hand but she took her place as the AI of the autum and only become pernamently with 117 because of it’so crash on halo.
