Hey everyone,
I just had an interesting thought. We’ve been told that all the fighting in mp etc is a battle simulation either at ONI High Command or onboard UNSC Infinity (correct me if I’m wrong!). I was thinking that if you as a Spartan and some of your chums on leave decide to go do some battles in the simulator for fun, you’re still fighting and still learning so should be gaining experience am I right? Just because these are not War Games sanctioned by your superiors or the brass doesn’t mean that your time spent fighting is any less valuable! Same goes for playing Halo in real life. Fair enough RP, but surely XP should still be awarded for customs?
What are your thoughts? Try not to take this too seriously it’s just a bit of fun! Please don’t tear into me for trying to tie this in to lore, I’m grasping at straws here just thought it could make an interesting discussion.

So in other words, someone could fire up the game. GO afk in a customs match they started and be max rank in a month? Lore doesn’t really matter to me when it comes to gameplay, this just seems like something that could easily be exploited. If say you set a limit to matches with other people you call up your buddy and have him afk with you.
I guess that’s true. If you ask me, the whole REQ system defies the lore. It’s basically gambling for weapons and vehicles in a training simulation. Why would the UNSC deem that a good idea?
UNSC: Hey, look, you get more Sniper Rifles!
Spartan: I don’t need more training with Sniper Rifles. Can I have more tanks?
UNSC: Nope. While you’re at it, have this armor that looks impractical as hell.
Spartan: What good will that do? Am I supposed to kill them with how ugly it is?
UNSC: Have a pile of emblems too.
Spartan: What the hell am I supposed to do with emblems?

Nah it couldn’t work the same way as matchmaking, if they did it at all they’d have to implement an amount of XP per kill or something so at least you have to keep killing each other to achieve the spam
plus why does xp matter? RP I understand cos you use that to get reqs which make you more dangerous in Warzone, but all XP does is change the number on your playercard

Hahaha very true, the more we go into it the less and less excuse they have for making multiplayer canon
This whole idea of multiplayer being cannon makes no sense. How can you respawn in real life?

I’d tell that to the people two or three max rank threads that have popped up. They seemed to care about having played enough to achieve that. I was quite happy when I hit 147 the other day (mainly cause it’d been a while since I ranked up) While it wouldn’t be as game breaking as RP, I doubt adding an exploit would be welcome. As for basing it on kills…Are you old enough to remember playing perfect dark or goldeneye? You could set up the game just right and throw enough mines about to create an endless row of explosions. I doubt it would be too difficult to set up something similar in forge and get a few dozen people to set up a custom game where they afk and 1 player (Having set off the explosions) repetitively gets credit for killing thousands in the space of a short time (I assume you can still lower respawn times.) Then trade out who is dying and who is killing after a period.

True, I assume its like paintball or laser tag or something though I don’t think they’re suppose to actually be killing each other, pretty sure the UNSC would have gone through millions of Spartan IVs by now haha!

Yeah I remember Goldeneye well, brilliant game! And yeah I suppose you have a valid point it probably would be quite easy to set up some ridiculous exploits. To be fair though, those who want to bask in the glory of having legitimately earned max rank wouldn’t use the xp exploit anyway! But these are all very valid points you raise

As far as cannon goes, Breakout is only mode that fits into lore. You knock down enemy and when you knocked down all, next round begins. Also it baffles me that UNSC has racing immature looking car. In addition, the pizza and fry camouflage for weapons.

Yeah that’s never really occurred to me before, Breakout seems very much like what a battle training simulator could actually be like. I don’t think the food skins are that ridiculous lol I bet you there are some armed forces personnel somewhere in the world with weapons with more ludicrous designs than that!

No, because custom games aren’t “hosted” by the unsc. They’re private simulations that the Spartans put up themselves. And aren’t “connected” to the database.

But xp just means experience points, if a soldier went off to war without the say so of his superiors he’d still be fighting and gaining experience!

He’s gaining actual experience/skill but not “going up in spartan ranks”. It’s really hard to fix problems when they call multiplayer part of the lore.
