I’ve seen a theory that this is an unfortunate side effect of 343 trying to mask your IP or something to prevent connection manipulation. Voice chat eventually works when all players have connected to the dedicated server.
If you mean while the game is loading I agree. I would also like to see the other players instead of just their emblems.

Hiding players names was intentional to prevent people from seeing a gamertag and quitting the game to avoid the match.
It happened a lot in MCC, sadly.

Yep stopping players from dodging was a high priority for 343. This was the most intelligent post in this thread. Let’s pretend that 343 have a good track record with the lobby system in MCC. Let’s pretend that MCC never happen.
