No Visible CSR will be the death of Halo 4

If CSR is not visible in-game, then Halo 4… and the halo series will die. Just look at the game’s population three months into launch. Its almost dead… and with 343 planning on not making CSR visible in game, seriously 343 don’t even bother working on CSR. Having no visible CSR defeats the purpose of even having a ranking system. Why do you think Halo 2 and Halo 3’s populations were MUCH higher than reach and halo 4? It’s not rocket science… its so simple just give us what we want. Halo 2’s matchmaking was actually addicting because when you de-ranked you wanted to go back and play more matches to get your rank back up. Having it visible adds to the pride and motivation of working hard to achieve a high rank. 343… you guys were Dead Wrong for many things… don’t ruin your last chance to save the series. Bring back competitive halo!

I want to see what the community thinks… answer the poll above!

No… it won’t.
To be perfectly honest anyone who cares about their CSR rank will likely know of it’s existence here on the site and will probably have the means to access it easily (smartphone/laptop).
It really does not need to be visible in game, at all. (Not saying it would hurt if it were)

its fine on waypoint

/thread (for like the 30th time)

Stop being so dramatic…It will NOT be the death of Halo at all.

So you’re saying Halo 4 is already dead and Reach for the entirety of its existence was dead because neither game has/had CSR.

Cool.

Oh and btw Halo 2 and 3, while stellar games, were so populated because let’s face it…what serious competition was out there.

Pretty sure anyone who cares enough about CSR wont mind downloading an app to trace what theirs is. Anyone who doesnt care wont waste their time, therefore its a perfect idea to keep it invisible on the game. Last thing we want is people selling their 50 accounts and having de-rankers in matchmaking.

It should be an option you should be able to hide your rank if you like or short if you like that way every type of player can be happy

I would like it visible in game but that’s just me…

2 each there own

Halo 2: Gears/MW1

Halo 3: Gears/MW1/WaW/MW2 and yet Halo 3 still held #3 spot up to Reach’s release. Halo Reach held #3 for a year. Halo 4 hit #4 in 2 months.

Halo 2/3 were beaten by games that sold more copies. Halo 4 is being beaten by games that sold 1/2 of its numbers. (FIFA and Minecraft)

Ranking system isn’t why this game is flopping like a dead fish. Its because it has too many CoD elements to appeal to the Halo crowd and isn’t “CoD” enough for the CoD crowd.

Perks (lol cant pick up nades)
Care Package (lol Power Weapon Fiesta)
Instant Spawn (lol fail)
Unlocking Emblems
Unlocking Weapons
Broken Join in Progress
Spawning with a shotgun
Flinch rather than De-scope

You’re poll has a missing answer: the one for people who don’t care. Neither answer is true for me and for many players.

So Gears of War and MW1 came out in 2004?

And when Halo 3 came out Halo was still the hottest online console shooter around, Gears was out yes and while MW1 was a big deal, CoD was just in the beginning stages of becoming the juggernaut it is today.

It’s a different culture now, CoD is the cool kids table and everybody wants to sit at it, I’d say Halo 4 is doing a respectable job in this day and age by staying in the top 3 or 4 most played games on XBL. Even if 343 addressed every single criticism, and went back to the play style of 2/3 for Halo 5, it would be in the same position as 4 is right now sadly.

You missed the part about Halo 4 being beat out by FIFA and Minecraft which each sold half the amount of copies as Halo 4. Halo 4 tried to be CoD: Space Warfare and it flopped.

and no Mw1 and gears weren’t out during 2004 but that even proves my point more. Halo 2 was years old when they came out and still stayed above them and Gears 1 was a huge title. It fell behind gears for about 2 months and then went back to #1 and in 2007 Mw1 knocked it down but Halo 3 was out that same year which also played a role in that happening.

  1. Halo 3
  2. Mw1
  3. Gears
  4. Halo 2

Now its:

  1. CoD
  2. Minecraft
  3. FIFA
  4. Halo 4
  5. CoD

that may have even changed to Halo being #5 since I last looked in January.

FIFA sold almost 7 and a half million in 4 weeks which has no doubt grown since then into the 10 millions, Minecraft sold 5 million in 2012, they’re no slouches.

No, but compared to Halo they are. Especially Minecraft which sold LESS THAN HALF of what Halo 4 sold. Yet it is #2 and Halo 4 is #4/5?

Have you played Minecraft? It’s terribly addicting and it’s pretty much second only to CoD in terms of taking the gaming world by storm.

No matter, I can see we’re really not gonna get anywhere with this, I respect that you can present your points in an intelligent discussion though.

I love minecraft, well in limited amounts of time, lol it just doesn’t make sense for a game that sold half the copies to beat a Halo game. Halo 4 dropped to #4/5 after 2-3 months

Before Halo 4, Halo was never beaten by a game that sold less copies than itself since Halo 2 and that was by GoW and was short-lived and years after Halo 2 was released.

I understand there is a lot of competition now, it is just hard to comprehend that Halo has fallen so far.

You might enjoy it in limited bursts, as I do now, but I played that thing almost exclusively for a good 3 months straight and had to ease myself off it like I was some kind of drug addict.

I mean we can all sit and complain about the influx of “casuals” but Halo is still a relatively hardcore group of players(by hardcore I mean dedicated) because nothing can touch CoD anymore in terms of mainstream appeal, it’s got to the point where almost all the people I used to work with who had a game console would ONLY play CoD and nothing else.

Oh no. Please God NO!!! I thought that only bugs and glitches could lead to the downfall of a game, but not having a little number next to your gamertag?! WE’RE ALL SCREWED!!!

Dude… Halo isn’t going to die.

I 100% agree that in game 1-50 would help the game out but it’s not really going determine whether or not Halo as a whole dies. I honestly do think Halo will be close to dead though if 343 doesn’t include it in Halo 5(I doubt the competitive players can possibly stick it out for much longer). It’s the one thing that has been complained about since the beginning of Reach that still isn’t present in Halo. 343 would be dumb to not include it in Halo 5. It would be such a selling point for competitive players. The sad part is Halo 5 could be complete trash and as long as 343 announces 1-50 before the game releases they will essentially automatically sell an extra ton of copies.

I can picture it now… All the threads pre-Halo 5 will be…

“Armor Abilities must go!”
“Increase the skill gap!”
“REMOVE JETPACK NOW PLEASE!?!?”
“MAKE BR THE PRIMARY STARTING WEAPON!!”
“NO MORE DMR PLEASE!”

One day 343 announces in-game 1-50 and all the threads turn into…

“THANK YOU 343! OMGOMGOMG!”
“1-50 just saved this game”
“343 are the saviors of Halo”
etc…

IMO 1-50 isn’t extremely important to me personally but I know how important it is to others. I am somewhat impacted as I enjoy an occasional ranked matched and a ton of my friends would return to Halo.

I’m not a very very competitive player but I can tell you all the areas where not having 1-50 in the game is stupid for both competitive and social players. 1-50 in-game wouldn’t hurt people that didn’t feel like playing 1-50 so I don’t understand why anyone that doesn’t like ranked even cares. 1-50 only helps you as the more “hardcore” players are going into ranked and playing together and the people that want a less competitive experience play social. 1-50 not being in-game also means that many people just won’t know about it or care about it. That means it’s going to end up being a joke and more than half the players aren’t going to know no or care that rank exists. Who ends up a winner here? nobody… Who ends up a winner if 1-50 is in-game? Everyone as all types of players will have set playlsits that they can play in. If you can’t stand the heat don’t play ranked and if you’re hardcore and want a hardcore match play ranked.

If I had a penny for every time I had to correct some under educated american on his idiot usage of the word addicting, I would quite literally be the richest man in the world.
