Just learned that 343 took out map voting and I have to say I think it’s a great choice. Playing MCC collection, Slayer on H3, having what, 18 maps to choose from(?) and playing nothing but guardian, pit, midship and occasionally a new map sucks.
I think they made the right choice because most people don’t like maps they lose on, so when a map came up that they weren’t good at or unfamiliar with they’d veto for a familiar map. Hey, I’m the same way. I never really like a map until I get good at it, where the power weapons are, good control points, spawns, etc.
I think that people might complain but the true Halo fans, wanting to play the game for the competition and fun will take the time to just give every map a fair chance and I’m sure that 343 will catch wind of what maps are crappy and start messing with rotations.
i am right there with you, i like the change. but alot of people dont and this could promote more rage quitting which i have a thread about if you want to go voice your opinion. i think this will promote a greater variety and will also help showcase the entire snadbox becuase you will be playing more maps that will be better fit for different weapons and vehicles

No true scotsman would have the nerve to dislike a map!
I agree, I’ve been playing the MCC a lot lately and there is so much to see and play but I only ever get the same -Yoinking!- matches because no one ever votes for anything different.
I’m getting really sick and bored of MCCs multiplayer just because every time I play Team Action Sack and I keep only getting the same 3/4 maps and the same like 3 gametypes, very rarely getting something new or interesting.
But with no voting and no vetos i’m really looking forward to the Multiplayer in H5, it’s going to be like the good old days of playing atone of different interesting gametypes and atone of different maps but with added rage quitters from people not getting the gametypes or maps they wanted.
I think the reason most people are upset about the change is because they aren’t looking deeply enough at it. On the surface, all they see is that 343 took out another feature which immediately paints a negative picture.
The prospect of simply having to play a map I’m not too fond of is not a big deal for me. Oh well.
But seeing everybody ONCE AGAIN vote for the same game/map over & over instead of something less common & more interesting and knowing that it’s caused by the people I’m grouped with is really frustrating.
I’d much rather just have it be chosen at random & if it’s something I love, great. If it’s not, then fine… I’m still gonna go with it but I won’t be pissed because at least a chance to play something more novel wasn’t ruined by people who just wanna play the same freaking maps all the time.
I would just rather have the map be chosen by the game at random than by other players.
Quit in Warzone? No problem, Join in Progress will fill the ranks.
Quit in Arena? Your problem for sure. In the long run, the system will match you with like-minded quitters. The others will occasionally have their time ruined by salty map haters, but the more you quit, the more quitters you’ll be matched with.
ok so idc about the veto system. to me it doesn’t make much of a difference, although I tend not to like or agree with some maps because of them being over played… but here is my preposition! if Veto is gone and Voting for maps is gone… how about giving us the chance to make personal lists of our Favorites that is linked to our waypoint accounts?

More variety is great in my opinion. As long as the randomization system is well implemented, and doesn’t lead to some maps being favored over others that is
No vetoing is not. Vetoing was for times where people thought a map/gametpye was just plain bad. So much so that they figure the next option would almost definitely be better. People didn’t veto all the time. Now people will just have to hope they don’t get a bad map/gametype? I hope they put a damn good quit penalty in because they just gave people another reason to leave matches.

Vetoing wasn’t any better or worse. People would just quit if the next gametype/map wasn’t what they wanted or was - in their opinion - a bad one. Two games in a row I “won” a match simply because the entire team quit before the game even loaded because the second option wasn’t their ideal map.
Gave another reason to leave a match? IMO that’s better than the alternative - 18 maps and only one of them ever gets played, and if any other map gets voted/vetoed in “Time to quit!”

Vetoing was better, if people quit it was more often than not because they were losing. In ranked, people rarely ever quit right away. I don’t know what mindset you’re in where the alternative of leaving if you play anything but your favorite map because of veto is any different than leaving if it’s not your favorite map when you have no option to begin with. It’s the same -Yoink-, the difference is with the option people are more likely to stay. Then again, that’s assuming the game has good maps to begin with. The map quality has noticably lowered over the year since then. If most of the maps aren’t very good, no veto system would actually probably help.
Trying to chime in on all of these threads to show support for it so 343 doesn’t change for some whiners. Its quite possibly the best decision they’ve made thus far and it restored a lot of faith in them for me. There was nothing good about the voting system as it is.
