No vanilla option for Reach customs

Just tried to make my own custom game in the browser and no matter what options I select it’s the TU settings. Maybe invasion won’t be tu idk. I am seriously bothered by this. I thought maybe the vanilla reach options would be available in customs. Does anyone know where or how to get vanilla reach matches?

Just tried to set up invasion, only had invasion slayer available and it was still under TU settings.

I did not understand everything my friend.

Halo Reach was a bungi released game, their last one. The game had new features that many fans of older halo games were not a fan of. Things like bloom, armour abilities (armour lock specifically) and a feature called no bleed through (damage would not affect health at all until shields were removed with the exception of sniper and a couple of other things.) During the time bungi had control of the franchise they didn’t really do much to affect these contentious features stating that these things were by design and as intended.

Once 343 took over the franchise they decided to make some changes to halo reach. They created something called the Title Update, TU for short. In the update they reduced the weapon bloom, nerfed armor lock, allowed damage to pass through shields, reduced precision weapon damage against vehicles and basically changed how the game played and how the weapon sandbox worked. They tested the TU settings and it divided the community. Some loved it, some hated it. They ended up leaving both options in the game having a Vanilla slayer and a TU slayer. In the long run the TU slayer’s player population almost completely died out. People give many reasons and excuses for that but I always interpreted this as the players enjoying the vanilla settings more. For reference the main campaign still runs on the vanilla settings. An easy way to test which version you are playing is the Needle Rifle.

(Note there is a third type of Halo Reach multiplayer settings called the Anniversary settings which mostly just makes the pistol more like the Halo CE pistol It was released with CE anniversary which originally used halo reach for it’s multiplayer, but that doesn’t add much to the discussion here. It has basically vanished at this point.)

In Vanilia settings holding down the trigger on the Needle Rifle results in rapid fire of the rifle with the target blooming out quite a bit. In the TU settings the target doesn’t bloom out it stays fully accurate. One slight bug with the TU is that if you switch to the needle rifle and immediately hold the trigger you get the bloom. The reason for this is the fact that weapons have some bloom activated when you switch them and holding down the fire button right away keeps it bloomed out even in the TU settings. So you need to wait for a slight moment after switching to the weapon before holding down the trigger. Doing this test basically tells you which settings you are playing in.

When 343 brought reach to the MCC they decided that having different multiplayer settings wouldn’t be all that good so they decided that the TU settings were objectively better and just made every mode with the exception of invasion use the TU settings. (The reason that invasion doesn’t use the settings is because it severely unbalances the elite vs human game play and they didn’t bother to try to adjust everything.)

There was a ray of hope in all this though as the custom game options did have regular slayer that you could pick. From my basic testing you can still have a vanilla custom game. However in the custom game browser I have found that even selecting the normal slayer option loads you into a TU game. The needle rifle has it’s TU bloom settings. I am not sure if this is intended or a bug. Even when selecting the Invasion setting, it still has the TU settings.

Sorry for the long post, but I hope this makes it more clear.
