The DMR has been confirmed:

Frankie confirmed it. Listen to the newest Sparkarst at 26 minutes in.

What a dumb move. Unless they fix the DMR it will over power every weapon including the BR. They need to reduce it’s ROF and the distance it shoots.

I daresay they known that, they don’t seem like idiots to me just mashing tings together hoping it’ll work.
Keep the faith.

If they kill the distance, they kill the weapon.
With DMR besides BR, it’ll have a specialized purpose (in campaign at least) and probably will see limited use. DMR is, after all, more suitable for firefight type battles.

Nonsense. Did the BR kill the carbine? If they design it like that weapon it should function perfectly fine.
im pretty sure that the DMR will just be there for Custom games (forge) and maybe we will see it in Campaign too… but i doubt that they will include both BR and DMR in matchmaking… they are to similar…
and how can you say that its going to be overpowered? you know that those weapons dont exist in RL rite? that means they can change every gun the way the want to… hell, they even could change the DMR so that its fully automatic with no recoil and a secondary shot that makes the enemies -Yoink!- explode…
so if the change it so its basicly the same gun as the BR with the only difference that its a 1 shot weapon (with 1 shot of the DMR is asa powerful as 1 burst of the BR and same fire rate) then it will be perfectly balanced!
that way the only difference between them would be that its a bit easier to hit someone with the BR… and that would make the BR a tiny… tiny tiiinny bit more powerful than the DMR.
Maybe maybe Not
I kind of like the idea of it in campaign and custom games
I have a feeling we will see shortly…

Somethings to ponder:
So please, please stop thinking in in-game absolutes and allow the Haloverse to expand your theories.
> you know that those weapons dont exist in RL rite?
If these weapons was in real life, no one would be complaining about them being over powered, they’d complain that it’s under powered.
KOOLxAIDxlVlAN, the only dumb move being done right now is you thinking that when they create weapons in video games from past titles, that the copy and past the weapon from the last game into the new game with out reworking it so it plays nice with every one else. Killing the distance that the DMR can fire at would be killing the weapon it’s self, and it already has a low rate of fire.
obviously if it is in. It won’t have bloom. Don’t worry.
> obviously if it is in. It won’t have bloom. Don’t worry.
At least not like the Reach version.
It is quite possible that blue-reticle/non-assisted shots will work like the 85% bloom DMR does, while the red-reticle/assisted shots will work like a ZB-DMR, but with a larger assist-area.
If this were the case, the new DMR would work very similar to a non-automatic CE-M6 and allow the user to feel empowered because when in range, the hit or miss is determined by the player. When out of range, the RoF-control + aim determines a hit or miss.
This is very similar in philosophy to the H3BR’s effectiveness.

Well it’s not like they’re going to directly import it from Reach and not change it at all. They’re obviously going to change it to fit in with the rest of the game.
@The Little Moa:
the Sniper and the Beam Rifle are similar weapons thats rite but the BEam Rifle was a Covenant weapon… i mean gameplay wise that doesnt say much but its still a different thing to have 2 weapons from 2 different fractions being almost the samt in combat than having 2 weapons from the same fraction being pretty much the same…
also IMO the differences between the Sniper and the Beam Rifle are bigger… it is kinda different to have Weapon that has to reload after 4 shots than having a weapon that doesnt need to be reloaded but instead you have to let it cool down…
IMO thats a bigger difference than having 1 weapon that shoots a single shot, and another which fires in bursts that make basicly the same amount of damage (of course its not the exact same amount but its hard to compare that really because they were in 2 separate games)
also if they make the Magnum like the one in Halo Reach we would have 3!!! Human Weapons for midrange encounters! thats just to much… thats why i think the BR and the DMR wont be on a map at a time.
