No Support for Oceanic Players

I’ve been an avid Halo fan for well over a decade but I’m absolutely tired of being forced into 200+ ping servers where I’m constantly getting stuffed over by lag to the point where I’m considering giving up entirely and not buying or playing Infinite. This happens with all regions unlocked, all game modes, and games enabled for search. It’s inexcusable given that the original version of Halo: Reach on 360 had 500 or so listed players at one point and yet I could still find games not only faster, but with significantly less lag than in the MCC today. I don’t have this issue with any other game outside of the MCC. I can always find non-laggy Australian games in other, older, less played games. I’m sure you know that 200+ ping is unplayable, and I highly doubt there aren’t other Australians to play with at any given time. The server region options seemed like a solution, except that you don’t allow us to turn off all but the ones we want, and so I’m still forced to play with Americans, which makes the feature pointless. Surely there’s an alternative to region lock, which just results in not finding any games at all… even when I team up with enough Australians so that we’re the majority of players in the game, we STILL get American servers. How on earth does that make any sense? There’s obviously some strangely strong bias towards not actually joining Aussie servers in your matchmaking system.

It’s incredibly frustrating to deal with this and I’ve been dealing with it since 2014. It really shouldn’t be so hard for me to play my favourite games online in 2021 with a steady player base with anything approaching a decent connection. Fix this.

Hopefully they will let you pick just one region with this next update. (343 this can’t be hard to do unless there is a reason I’m not aware of?)

It does feel sometimes like Aussie/Kiwi players are 2nd class citizens. Apparently MS is making an Azure server for NZ, hopefully this is available to us in MCC and Infinite.

I understand the frustration but you’ve also got to realise that severs don’t just take your region into account.

If they’re aren’t enough local players playing to fill a severs in your local region then you’re going to get put into a server that’s further away. If there isn’t a majority of players in your region within your matche then you’re also going to get out into a server located elsewhere.

MCC is basically 7 years old now. Population is smaller than what it would have been some time ago.

Halo Infinite is going to be a huge game, free to play and no XBL gold required removes barrier to entry, meaning more players available - including more in your region. You’ll have a easier time finding games in your region within Halo Infinite than you would MCC to be honest. I feel like it’s unfair to write off a game that hasn’t released yet based off of experiences in a 8 year old title.
