Get gud
lol
Realy can’t do anything else.
Start playing ranked and, honestly, get better.
I could give you advice but I’m not sure you’d listen.
Im with Banjo on this one. That advice works for me in my every day life. I may suck at something new at work. But over time, I realize that I’m actually really good at something. Hell you might even find a way of doing something thats completely different than what you were shown, but you learn that it works as good or even better than what youre taught. Take everything with a grain of salt my man. Once you find “your way” and see it works for you, youll see the change. It may not be an overnight thing, but give it some time. Six months from now you might look back and say to yourself, “Wow, Ive really improved since then”. Everyone learns at different pace, everyone finds a new and interesting way of doing something. Once you do man, you’ll do great. Find that sweet spot that gets you those kills, or gets the flag carried across the map or holds that ball for 60+ seconds. Just have fun.
Watch Shyway videos and learn jumps and slides etc, those helped me fill in gaps I had in my map traversal
Getting good is a conscious effort. You have to identify what your specific weaknesses are before you can fix them. Easiest way to do that is to play back your matches and try to think of a way you could have prevented each of your deaths.
And thats what i feel like happens a good portion of the time i play. Yes, i get that you need to take out some of the other team to be able to ‘get’ the obj a little easier/successfully, but (for me) if I’m not being aggressive, I’m usually not having a good game. When I focus on playing differently I usually don’t do too well. Its tough but probably what keeps me coming back to the game.
Only advice I can give is try to improve your movement & when to pick fights while learning from your mistakes as well
Took me took me 8 years to get good at Halo, it’s just patience & time
You couldn’t say it any better. Sure individual skill can outperform but in an overall most games/matches you need that teamwork and coordination. Another reason why I’m thrilled having this new 2v2 ranked playlist.
Sort of. You can only get better by focussing on what makes you worse and working on making it better.
Eg
- go into a custom game and time how long it takes for the weapons to spawn.
- Work on starting strategys (what is the quickest way to get to point A,B,C
- Rewatch matches back and see what the enemy are doing better than you.
- Learn difficult techniques, like the drop slide and crouch jump, and practice a few places on each map you can utilise them to get off the beaten track (eg, crouch jump from stair to capture point C balcony on streets). Other techniques worth practicing are dropping a weapon to get the last headshot quick (requires a keybind), or double tapping Y to cancel animations (such as rocket pickup animation)
- Learn proper call outs.
- Find a team of people as good as you (or better), to force the matchmaking algorithm to put you into matches of the same team CSR or better
- learn map traversal routes backwards
- learn how to use grenades and quickly replenish them.
- use firing range daily to improve aim with weapons you suck at using, rather than avoiding them
Or…just enjoy it for what it is - a game
I was bad 20 years ago and have only gotten worse. At this point it has become a skill in and of itself how I can outdo my bad gameplay with an even worse performance each and every time.
Platinum 4 is above-average, so I wouldn’t say they’re bad.
I’ve been playing Halo on consoles since CE and I’ve regularly been above average in most playlists with a few exceptions where I achieved some surprisingly good skill indicators (for me). I was definitely better when I was younger and able to sink copious amounts of time into playing Halo on the regular.
The fact is some people are just more naturally gifted than others, but also hard work is necessary to reach a person’s true ceilings. Not everyone is able to sink that kind of time and effort into grinding a game in order to push themselves to their maximum capability.
The only thing i would add is that your mentality and Halo IQ can have a greater impact than your mechanical skills with a controller. For example Michael Jordan not only was very physically talented but he always had his correct hand in the passing lane on defense. He force players into situations they were uncomfortable in and capitalized on it. He was smarter than everyone else on the court. This is what made him great.
Same thing can be applied to Halo, lots of kids can 4 shot and hit a no scope body shot for an easy cleanup. But you gotta know when to challlenge and when to wait. You gotta know what spawn to force the other team into to put them at a disadvantage for the objective, use the chokepoints on the map. Use the sandbox in the nerdiest way possible, be a hard kill. ect.
I agree with you completely. Before this recent rank reset I hit onyx 1773 I believe and according to Halo Tracker that’s the top 0.5%. I play Halo less than 10 hours per week, but I’ve been playing it for decades. My platinum rank friends are good at the game because they understand the flow. They just aren’t the top top percentage of the game.
I find it interesting that platinum 3 is the average rank.
One would expect most halo players to be gold…now is this a problem with the ranking system or is this an indicator that most average players are actually long term halo players?
I believe it’s because platinum is the middle rank in the game? Bronze, gold, platinum, diamond, onyx.
You forgot Silver.
Middle is suppose to be Gold 6|Platinum 1
Yeah I guess you’re right. You did miss out on silver but there’s 300 CSR between each rank except for onyx, which is uncapped. The max rank here is lucid at approx 2400.
So…platinum 3-4 would be the natural peak.
Bronze 0-300
Silver 300-600
Gold 600-900
Platinum 900-1200
Diamond 1200-1500
Onyx 1500-1800
Onyx 1800-2100
Onyx 2100-2400
I need to see the worlds bottoms player so bad, have a feeling it’d be magical to watch for all the wrong reasons
