After starting the halo reach campaign for my first time ever I was very disappointed to discover that subtitles do not extend beyond cutscenes. As someone who is almost completely deaf it is impossible for me to understand any dialogue spoken during gameplay. I’m honestly shocked that a game released in 2019 doesn’t have full accessibility support for deaf gamers.
Is it possible that subtitles could be added in a future update so that players like me could enjoy the story of reach?
Unfortunately, it was also like this in the 360 version. If they didn’t add them in to this MCC version, I doubt they will add them in anytime soon. Maybe a little more down the road once they iron out all the big issues and bugs.
I’m having these same issues, but they DID fix these things in the 360 version, so there’s still a glimmer of hope (maybe). I’m also having issues with my crouch settings.
I’m also disappointed. As someone with average hearing capabilities, even I’m having trouble understanding what the characters are saying. I’m left hearing mumbling, whether it’s caused by a nearby firefight/explosion, or just being covered by the music. Either way, it’s really frustrating to not know what’s going on, or know where to go next.
I played the last ‘Flight’ they released and if I remember correctly, there were subtitles, so it’s really stupid for it to fail now in the full release, 343 should adress this issue now
I just purchased HALO: TMCC and played the original HALO: CE and the Subtitles are fantastic in cinematic AND in-game.
However, I noticed that HALO: Reach and HALO 2 both doesn’t have Subtitles in game so it’s frustrating for me to stay caught up. This also breaks the immersion because of complete silence when playing and watching people mumble silently. HALO: Mime Edition?
Is there any way I can force the Subtitles to work, or at least use a workaround? A mod perhaps?

Just started Reach coop with friends, and the subtitles in game are still missing.
Shame. As someone with two hearing -Yoink!-, I struggle hearing the dialogue. Doesn’t matter how loud I have it, certain frequencies don’t come across.

Even I purchased the game in steam with high expectations that they will add them in and surprise surprise they haven’t done it…
I am really surprise how long they have been put off and delayed the progress (or the progress never happen…) this is 2021 and seriously?
This need a attention.
