No sprint

I truly believe that Sprint is the main reason why Halo does not play like Halo anymore. Remove Sprint or split the playlists between modern and classic, at least give the original trilogy players something! I wish I had the money to start a small game studio and build a game where the trilogy left off. It obviously couldn’t be Halo but it would play just like the trilogy games but it would be something new instead of this BS they keep pumping out. Is it so unreasonable to ask for some classic ranked playlists for Halo infinite?

halo fans when they know a human is capable of running:

ANGRY

You’ll find more joy in the Classic Movement thread. It rarely strays from the top page or two.

And yes, it probably is unreasonable. 343 is unlikely to fracture the player base right from the start.

I hope you find joy in customs (who needs their own game studio when Infinite will have Forge).

enhanced movement fans when halo fans propose Halo should return to what made it Halo:ANGRY

Mechanics evolve. Sprinting wasn’t really a thing when Halo began, but now it’s a common feature in FPS. Just because it wasn’t in the OG Halo’s doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be now.

Sprint was not the reason Halo started to fall off after Halo 3. Halo Reach made a lot of changes to the Halo formula, mainly in armor abilities, which people at the time did not approve of. Halo 4 I believe had a really good campaign but its multiplayer strayed a bit too far from the original Halo formula with its introduction of loadouts and perks, along with kill streaks, or as they called them ordnance drops. Halo 5 I fell did a great job of capturing the arena feeling of Halo, albeit at a much faster pace due to sprinting, true, but also thruster and other spartan abilities. Still its hard to pin all of Halo’s successes and failures on one singular mechanic. I think if you made a modern fps game without sprint it would need to have a relatively high normal walking speed to compensate, something like what Doom does currently. I personally do not feel that would work for Halo because Halo to me has always been a relatively slower paced game. You could say that sprint in some ways works against that slower pace, and you might be right, but I think giving the player the choice to run faster with the tradeoff of not being able to use your gun or recharge shields like Halo 5 is a good way to go. If you want to be prepared for any engagement at any time you can choose not to sprint.

From the ends if it’s content cycle and on in H5, 343 ran non-sprint playlists multiple times.

News flash, 343 knows Halo still plays well without sprint. You’re 100% going to see sprint and non-sprint playlists. Can we just stop these sprint/ no sprint threads and acknowledge we’re almost certainly going to get both?

I hope sprint is more nerfed from Halo 5 if it’s going to exist in Halo Infinite.
