Hi guys at 343i,
I know you’re hearing this a lot but you’re making a huge mistake by not including split-screen, people who play locally are always content in the lower framerate and drop in resolution in order to enjoy your game together in a room. So many times have me and my friends all gathered using our Xbox lives on one machine and created a fire team for online play.
The truth is that its not an engine issue, or a drop in FPS or resolution that is stopping you from including this gameplay. It is in fact a way to gather more money, through use of Xbox live gold accounts, or some people may go to the extreme of buying another Xbox one. But I can assure you I and many, many others will not. I have played every Halo since release, and I have loved every minute of it, and now I enjoy sitting with my partner and playing the campaign, or Spartan ops, or online multiplayer together, we don’t care that we’re at a disadvantage we just enjoy the game because it’s what brings us closer.
Let’s look at everything you have done since taking over the franchise.
Halo 4: Impressively done game, graphically amazing, however full of bugs and easily hackable by cheaters for online purposes, and let’s not forget how imbalanced the weapons were. You promised to do better next time.
Halo MCC: This game was broken since release, dedicated servers not connecting allowing people to use lag switching once again, graphical glitches infinite connecting sessions for online. You apologised for this by giving us ODST a month free live and some in game avatars. So essentially you sold us a broken game at £55 and apologised with approximately £10.
And finally Halo 5 Guardians: This games looks to be going in the right direction in regards to speeding up the gameplay, pushing the boundaries of the story, and as per usual being graphically amazing. However the removal of split-screen campaign and multiplayer is a deal breaker.
Do the maths. If you have 1 million customers all willing to buy your game brand new at £55 and 500,000 of them willing to pay for XBL Gold for a full year in order to enjoy it’s online features that’s a total of £74,995,000, now on average a total of 25% of people are saying they will now not buy Halo 5 because of the no split-screen this works out as follows, 750,000 copies sold plus 750,000 XBL Gold accounts which totals £71,242,500, that’s a net loss.
Per 1,000,000 possible customers you will have lost approximately £3,752,500, and if we decide to take into consideration how many people who may buy an Xbox One to make this deficit up including copies of the game and XBL Gold accounts you will need 9524 Console sales for every 1 million possible customers.
Apply this deficit value to however many possible users you may want to, either way, it’s yourselves that are losing out on the revenue, 100 million possible customers equals to £375,250,000 net loss with a necessary 952,400 new Xbox customers in order to make this deficit up. And I’m pretty sure you don’t see any revenue for XBL sales or Xbox one sales.
Seriously guys, make the right decision, delay the game if you have to but bring back split-screen multiplayer and release the perfect Halo like you have promised.
I understand if I never receive a response to this message as in doing so you would either have to admit making a mistake or finding other reasons to tell me why you can’t do it, if an original Xbox or an Xbox 360 can pull it off, then the Xbox One can accomplish this with no issues, so no more excuses and do the right thing please.
My following of Halo depends on your decision now.
