I just found out that Halo 5 will not have Split-Screen! What does everyone think about this? Personally I think this is the worst thing that could ever happen to the Halo franchise. Let me say that I am a huge Halo fan in fact Halo is pretty much the only FPS I play and it is one of my all time favorite game franchises. I have always supported the Halo franchise and I would always tell people that it is the best FPS. However the fact that Halo 5 will not have Split-Screen makes me question the future of the Halo franchise and to be honest it makes me not want to buy Halo 5. One of the reasons I love Halo so much is because of its incredible Split-Screen experience and the fact that me and my friends are able to play it together in one room. I have spent more time playing Split-Screen in Halo than I have spent playing alone or just over Xbox Live. I just can’t express how disappointed I am at this news and how bad of a decision I think this was. Anyway reply and let me know what you guys think about this!

I think no one should ever hope to get a lesser game just to accommodate split screen. No matter what feature it is, the core game should take priority, and when something doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.
Douglas, I feel you and agree with every statement you made. This isn’t news anymore to a lot of us, and keep in mind that your post might be locked because they are apparently kind of trying to shush up the people complaining about this. But it’s important to talk about because, like you, my involvement in the future of Halo is dependent. And for me it’s dependent especially upon whether or not the developers listen to the community and value what’s important to us the way Bungie used to.
Split-screen is the reason I became a gamer and have played games my whole life. Multiplayer games to me have their greatest potential in the social realm–bonding with friends and family in the same room. Having system-link or just split=screen Halo parties accomplishes something magical that no other game can. My best friendship of my life came from playing split-screen with someone I used to hate. I would rather play Halo with someone in person than alone any day.
Another thing is: this is a HUGE blow to the machinimaking community. How will people make machinima without split-screen? It’s largely responsible for much of Halo’s success, and groups like Rooster Teeth helped establish Halo’s massive legacy. This is a slap-in-the-face to that.
To be fair, 343 apparently tried getting it in the game for some time, but cut it due to incompatibility with 60FPS. The reason those of us to whom split-screen is important need to continue to be very vocal is so that 343 will have no doubt about the importance of split-screen going into Halo 6. I want my favorite franchise to be saved in all its glory. I don’t want to lose Halo. And after playing the Halo 5 beta on the Master Chief Collection, I can say the new direction for the gameplay is fantastic and fun. I will eventually buy the game after a price-drop and catch up on the story in hopes that Halo 6 will see the return of split-screen so I can play with family and friends again. If 343 cares about the community, they will admit this is a mistake and that minor visual improvement is not with such an important part of the game being removed. Keep speaking up about it on the internet, friend, so hopefully they’ll listen.
If Halo 6 is once again lacking split-screen, it will show me 343 did not listen to or care about something dear to the Halo community that gave Halo its edge, and I will NOT support them in the future. But for the time being, I am hoping for that future.
