Is it just me remembering wrong or was there not only audio, but physical impact when one would get shot in previous Halos?
I got bothered by the physical impact in past titles, but I find it not only less immersive, but detrimental to my response in fights when I’m getting shot by a BR and hear/feel nothing. I have to strictly use the directional cue to understand what’s happening to me, and sometimes I don’t react before I have lost half or more of my armor, so I’m destined to lose the firefight.
I’m using mouse and keyboard so I don’t get the benefit of rumble, which I turned off in past Halos anyways, but still understood when I was under fire.
Please let me know if I’m off-base or if others are having the same difficulties. Thank you!
It has to do with audio drivers, if you’re using a headset with 7.1 surround sound you don’t hear like the rear 120degrees of audio. This is surprisingly common right now and hopefully will be fixed soon. Personally, I refuse to play ranked until this is fixed because I guaranteed die minimum 1-2 times a match because I get attacked from behind and have zero audio cues or awareness. There is a fix on reddit I can link you to that is a Band-Aid for this, but you’ll lose surround sound.

That explains it, I have ASTRO a40 with Dolby digital turned on. I’m able to hear the location of footsteps so well with it on though, so I really don’t want to lose that.
Glad I’m not alone in this, it keeps happening to me too.
Yeah I feel you bro, I use some logitech headphones with 7.1 and I use audio more than I do my radar. It sucks real bad to lose audio input required for a competitive level of play.
