No sign of any returning characters?

They will definitely all return and be present in some capacity.

Hard to imagine The Infinity not being there - which means Lasky and Co are going to be there.
Lasky and Palmer got what? Five minutes of screentime in H5? We can at least expect that again from Infinite.

> Infinity is a huge intersection of past games in the series. Infinity Oni an Spirit of Fire maybe in game. The Banished Forerunners an Flood maybe the main antagonists. Spartan 4s an Odst teams might be spread out all over the place an the created ark continues as we have already been introduced to several new characters.

Would be nice to see the Spirit of Fire make an appearance.

I know as much you do so this is just my guess, but I’d assume some of the more integral characters (Lasky, Halsey, Arbiter) will at least make appearances in the initial campaign. However, I also think they’re really trying to focus on Chief so I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a relatively small cast.

Personally I’d love it if they took some of the more secondary characters like Blue Team, Osiris, and even Red Team and the Spirit of Fire crew and gave them their own campaign DLCs. Seems like a much better way of developing them into their own characters instead of trying to mash them all into Chief’s story.

Hopefully they have not killed any character, be it from Halo 4 and Halo 5, they deserve to have their evolution as a character and if they die, have a worthy end in the game with the attention they deserve.

I really loved everyone on Osiris except for … I can’t even remember his name right now *googles it… Locke, lol. His character was just so flat.

I’d like to see Arby and Blue team make a return, as well as Buck from Osiris. We do know though that Locke’s helmet is worn as a trophy by one of the Brute Chieftains, so there is hope that they’ll show up.

Keith David,Arbiter’s voice actor also kind of hinted he will return when asked.

If you don’t actually pay attention, I guess I can see that.

I think we could see characters like Arbiter, Sarah Palmer, Thomas Lasky, Blue Team and Roland coming back in the upcoming Halo Infinite. At the same time, I also think that 343 Industries want to keep their return as a surprise. The reason why I am saying this is because they don’t want to show too much in the next trailers or gameplay footage.

I really hope arbiter makes an appearance. More than anything. He’s such an interesting character and i would love to see how he would look in 343’s updated art style.

Agreed.
Halo 4 gave us some new and interesting characters, albeit for only about half of the game. Then Halo 5 comes around, and they kill off the remaining primary antagonist in 5 minutes, and then shove most of 4’s characters aside to make way for WAY more new ones.

Im sick of being introduced to characters, learning who they are over their scenes, speculating on where they might grow and be challenged in the following game, only to have them swept aside and forgotten about.
Like you said, back when Halo 2 came out, there was a vocal potion of the fan base that cried for his removal, which likely played a part in his downgrade to ‘sidekick’ in Halo 3. And look at him now, he is essentially GOD-TIER beloved by most of the fan base.
343 faced a similar rescission with the Didact following Halo 4, and sadly their lack of resolve lead to him getting thrown in the story deep-freezer.
And as the years have gone on, he has developed a bit of a cult following of fans that want him back.

I don’t want to be sitting here in 2027 seeing people bash 343 for killing off most of 5’s characters in the first half of Infinite, haha!

Letting the characters grow and evolve is the meat on the bones of the story. Without it, just just have one-dimensional drones walking though the plot. My hope is that relevant characters from 5 show up in small doses throughout the story and in situations that challenge them as a character. Whether that’s through direct encounters, cutscenes, or terminal like vignettes.

Anyway, I think 343 are probably playing Infinite’s marketing very close to the chest. 5’s marketing was a disaster, and they probably don’t want to get us hyped in the wrong direction by showing to much. And the lack of 5’s characters is likely due to more of a ‘bad taste left in the mouth’ situation, and the wanting to showcase the more Chief V Banished, and ‘spiritual reboot to CE’ side of the game.

Palmer voice actress confirmed she’s in it, and arbiters voice actor hinted he will be as well. I’ll bet the majority if the main characters of halo 4 and 5 return. Some will probably be killed off, but I’m expecting most of them to at least make an appearance.

Yeah, I’m not keen having to meet new characters and basically have the game be a pitch for whether or not they have a right to exist or not. Many a character has started off “badly” only to be improved as the story developed.

Case in point; Palmer.
Post Spartan Ops, you couldn’t even whisper her name in the forums without bringing your fire extinguisher. But they kept her in 5, toned her down a little, and nowadays the hate isn’t nearly as bad as it was.

The problem is that the games are designed around appealing to as many people as possible, it’s easier for ‘generally’ disliked characters to be removed and expanded upon in books and other media - keeping the games free to deliver more likeable characters to the general audience. This is what I can see happening for Palmer and Osiris.

You could argue that the characters need time to be liked, but this wouldn’t be an issue if they were written well to begin with. Take Halo CE - most of the characters were loved prior to Halo 2 even being announced, which they played on (Johnson, 343 etc). Some of the current batch have already been around for 2 games and several books but are still not liked by many - how long do you keep them around for?

I think Blue Team will be in Halo Infinite.
If Blue Team was not meant to be in Halo Infinite, 343 would have separate them from Chief during Shadows of Reach, that was the perfect opportunity, they could have them stranded on the planet like other UNSC forces or they could have follow the Ferrets through the portal for the Ark, instead 343 opted to have them stay with Chief on the Infinity, less than 2 months before the battle with the Banished at Zeta Halo.
We also have the 3D models on the cover of Shadows of Reach, I don’t think that 343 would have made them just for a book. Plus we have Fred toy model for Halo Infinite using a VK78 Commando.
343 knew very well how much fans care for Blue Team and yet they mees them up in Halo 5. I think 343 should take responsibility and do them right in Halo Infinite as an apology to fans.
The open-world nature of Halo Infinite and the side-missions are perfect for Blue Team to shine. Maybe you can choose which member take with you in side-missions one at the time.
I also hope the game will put at good use each member particular ability like Fred close-quarters combat skills, Kelly speed and Linda sniper-skills.

At this point we’ve gotten more info on multiplayer then campaign. But I think that is the point. They don’t want to throw all their cards on the table, we arent supposed to know the story before we play the story

I was hoping theyd show us more returning characters in e3 but I can understand wanting to keep quiet till release so we are pleasantly surprised to see our old fave characters appearing

Just look up actors working on infinite

Soo happy to see this. The characters from halo 5 were so bad they basically ruined the game. Why does every new game have to feature so many unrealistic soldiers.

Halsey and Roland were in that audio teaser that was hidden in an inside-infinite article some time back. Might be a sign.
