Please don’t take the title of the post as proof that the rocket hog isn’t in halo 4. I don’t know if the rockethog will be in the game. I just hope that it will be cut from the game. It was useless in reach and doesn’t need to return in halo 4. The gausshog is far better vs armor and aircraft, which makes the rockethog useless. The only reason that it would come back is for nostalgia only(not the only thing thats coming back just for nostalgia(eg BR, beam rifle)).
I would rather have a new variant of the warthog come to halo 4. Perhaps a warthog with a even larger machine gun or perhaps a grenade launcher. Please 343, don’t bring back the rockethog. Or at least at the very least, make it better than the reach iteration.
It would be cool to have in customs, as it did provide for some cool custom games, but it was fairly useless in matchmaking. Or maybe I just never became good with it.
> if it did return it would need to be more effective. it needs to be more on anti air where the guass hog did both jobs.
Agreed, the rocket hog could be much more useful if the missiles actually ACT like missiles. Better accuracy wouldn’t hurt either, those things would just go off course and hit teammies lol.
I got to agree with OP, even if they did “beef up” the Rocket hog, made the missiles awesome, the Gauss hog is still superior in every way except maybe groups of infantry.
Lets say Gauss hog = Spatan Laser,
Rocket Hog = Rocket Launcher.
The only way the Rocket Hog could serve a purpose would be if they increased damage and blast radios, but unless your goal is to get cheap multikills, the gauss is still better in every way. 1:1 accuracy at unlimited range, high damage, decent fire rate, it does everything rocky does but better.
The rocket hog serves no purpose, and hence shouldn’t return imo
I was never really skilled gunning a rocket hog. The best I place i can think to use it is it a small area, so there’s less places for your target to run off to.

Let’s remember tho, the Gauss is the power weapon in the vehicle selection. Came quite rarely in MM.

True, but back in Halo 3 it was a given guest at any BTB heavies. Rocket Hog would be a power weapon if it was to be usable, as it is now it’s a joke vehicle, fun but not usable (see prowler).
A vehicle that can fire rockets is per definition powerful, add the homing capabilities when it comes to air vehicles and you got a winner. Still, they serve the same purpose, the same nisch. There is no major difference between Rocket hog and Gauss hog except that Gauss got accuracy and rocket got area effect.
I’d rather see a UNSC version of artillery, a (heavy) grenade launcher or a vehicle with such power. Instead of firing rockets straight, it would fire them up and let them drain down on unsuspecting enemies, much like a Wraith but UNSC version, less damage but agile and fast instead.

As someone else said, it definitely needs better AA abilities. And the Gauss Hog should rarely appear in matchmaking, that thing’s a little too powerful in my opinion. And with the dawn of the Railgun, there won’t be much need for it anymore.
The Rocket Hog was useful for what it is designed for, and that is taking out vehicles. It locks onto air vehicles and gives them hell. Especially the Falcon. And it would flip around any ground vehicle you shot at, excluding tanks of course, and made them easy targets when they land to finish off.
And making comparisons with the Gauss Hog? Really? The thing is in instant kill on infantry with an extremely accurate shot that can cross map easily. It kills just about everything in 2 shots. It is way overpowered, of course it is more effective than the rocket hog.
It’s very stupid that you don’t want the option to be able to use the widest range of weapons possible.
Having it in the game doesn’t hurt anyone. If you don’t like it then don’t use it.
Not having it in the game, however, would hurt those that want the option to use it.
The rocket hog is obviously inferior to the gauss hog, but, then again, so is the default hog. Should we get rid of that too?
That’s like saying that we should get rid of the assault rifle because the BR is better than it

This.
