Taking the region lock off for me has made the game almost unplayable. Worst decision made by far. for unranked and social playlists then fair enough or even maybe it could become unlocked in champion or just late at night but there should be no reason for me to be matching NA players in the EU at 6pm
Enough people were mad that there was one. Hope now people understand why they put one in in the first place
I was happy, it was frustrating when i couldn’t get games at like 4am but now playing on NA servers id rather not.
its frustrating when one shots dont die but a lot of people outside the US were not finding games.
I think this is a hard issue that 343 is trying to solve that works for everyone. An option to toggle it on or off is one way, but if they don’t do that, I’d consider buying a net duma router and setting up “region lock” on your own…
Region lock really made a big difference - the wait for matches wasn’t too bad (not too different now, tbh). Now, everyone gets bad matches, so everyone gets to enjoy more lag in all its glory. Like I love the game to bits and I seem to be lucky with having a reasonably good connection but I have noticed a couple of times a bit more lag than before… The game had been PERFECT for me (In Ireland), disconnected for the first time ever on the weekend and saw lag too 
Its strange those of you that wanted the region lock taken off are now the same that want it back in place. Region lock was there for a reason… Now you know why! My whole purpose to buying halo 5 was because of dedicated servers with region lock. Well kiss that goodbye!! Now many are paying the price for this nightmare. We can only hope they put region lock back in place or come up with something that will work for most. But honestly for as bad as 343 was bashed about this I only hope they will pay attention to what a mess it is now.

The dedicated servers EU thread has close to 4000 replies. I’m still waiting for 343 to acknowledge it! The game is appallingly bad right now. Frequent screen freezes which result in death, invincible enemies, teleporting Spartans and horrific latency.
Is this effecting West coast players too…because I feel like it’s mostly East Coast that’s getting screwed in matchmaking. We are not getting local servers.

With the previous Region Lock East Coast US players didn’t get to play on local servers. There’s something wrong with 343’s matchmaking in general. It usually doesn’t work for everyone. Only the most heavily populated Halo playing regions. If the populations are that dead in some regions, 343 is going to have to do something with their coding that compensates for players with high ping.

With the complete silence on this from 343 I bet the problem is bigger then we all know! Ive read on a few different sites now that the net code is the root of the problem. I think by having region lock on was possible a way to help contain the problem. Now that the region lock is off this has spread like wild fire! Also this last weeks crash makes me wonder if that wasn’t a sign of the big problems this game has. Btw I totally agree with you on what your saying in re guards to compensating ping rates through coding. Ive also read that some of the net coding used in H5 isn’t supported by all ISP. So I think that maybe playing a part in this also. Again this is info ive only read. But with such silence on this matter from 343 I think we can honestly say there is a mighty big problem and it seems to be spreading.
