No Reason to Play Infinite in its Current State

There is no reason for me to play Halo Infinite as it stands right now.

  • If I have to play another match of oddball or strongholds, my head is going to explode. I used to like those gamemodes, but by this point I can’t stand them anymore. We need to be able to pick a mode like in MCC or players are going to leave in droves (like me). I just want to play Slayer and maybe CTF every now and then, but most of the time I queue, I get modes that are frustrating instead. It is not worth my time to play modes I now hate when I could play a different game and be guaranteed to play what I want to play.
  • I am not spending a cent on manipulative, greedy micro-transaction system or super grindy progression. No point grinding progression or level ups when the rewards are all challenge swaps or XP boosts anyway.
  • Custom games are currently not playable.

I guess I’m excited for the campaign? Although if the characters are anything like the multiplayer AIs then it’ll be an absolute cringe fest. I hope these issues get fixed; for now I’ll put the game down. We the consumers deserve better.

I play cuz I have fun. Even if it needs work in some areas.

I play cause I want to have fun and how is the store manipulative there’s nothing at fault but the person there’s no one opting a gun at your head it falls on you no one else

I really enjoy the game, and I understand playing to have fun, but the fact of the matter is that I can’t stand playing most of the game modes in matchmaking, and since we have no choice over what modes to play, like we’ve had for the better part of two decades, the majority of the time I play I am frustrated since I am playing something I wouldn’t have chosen to play.

The micro-transactions are manipulative in a few ways:

  1. I think that the prices are so high right now because Microsoft is acting like a car dealer, where they ask way above what they really want for the items, and then players will feel happy when they bargain the prices down. That might not be true, but it’s a valid suspicion.
  2. The lack of matchmaking playlists and difficult-to-complete challenges serve to make people buy challenge swaps. The lack of options seems to me to be by design. The game is built around trying to manipulate you to spend more money. 343 creates a problem with you not being able to choose a game mode and choose challenges, and then they create a solution in challenge swaps.
  3. I think the most expensive option for in-game purchases is listed as a “best seller” and has been since the game launched. Little kids are going to play this and get tricked.
