In Halo 4 I don’t get any rear, and minimal peripheral, sound. I don’t hear footsteps running up on me, or a hog/ghost, until they have splattered and moved in front of me.
In previous Halo’s you got a sense of where you were being shot at from and could tell if it came from the right, left, or behind. Not so w/ halo 4. It greatly diminishes the pleasure of competition because YOU CAN’T HEAR where you are being attacked from. What’s the point of surround sound if all you hear is general “game noise” but no specific “combat sound”.
And as a personal gripe, please turn off the music during matchmaking lobby.
