No real reward for winning...

So, is the incredibly small amount of XP for winning a CTF game supposed to entice players into going for the flag? What happens when a week passes most players start holding flags to just rack up kills for points? Reach’s objectives had I right with a 1.5 credit bonus for winning. Halo 4 needs something like that, soon, or else -Yoinks!- holding objectives will soon start to appear.

Don’t tell me not to worry about it. We already have proof of it happening in Reach before the victory bonuses and in most games with poorly thought out objectives.

Considering each time I win I get a win bonus…I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Winning is it’s own reward.

The victory bonus is currently very small; and racking up kills can currently give more points than winning. This isn’t going to be enough to keep players going for objectives once a week or so passes and the excitement of a new game wears off.

Isn’t the point of playing games to actually play the games, not get a present every time you do something?

Play counter strike or unreal tournament or quake or serious sam. The reward for winning is winning.

The CoD mentality is what is making games bad.

Isn’t this Halo 4, a shooter, a game where you play to win to get better and play better players or am I on a Halo skinned WoW website…

It’s not about getting a reward, it’s about persuading the rest of the Halo community to try to play the game the way it’s supposed to be played. Not with stat padding. Personally i don’t think you should get any xp for losing or maybe like 300-500 still getting 80% of the credits the winning team gets is really jank.

No. But then i felt the same about reach. I liked 1-50 because if u lost u would rank down. The only way is up in reach and h4. Winning is of course rewarding but it does get boring when you dont get what your aiming for by winning, u get it for simply playing.

I think the understanding is that you play capture the flag to actually capture the flag. If capping flags give you less exp. than turning it into a no kill ceiling slayer game, then it ruins the core game mode as it was designed. Instead of giving more exp for flag capping they should give kills diminished return for exp.

People online need to just respect the core gameplay and cap the flag if they have the chance. Just respect the game, people.

Keep in mind that although CSR is not visible until next year, it is currently tracked behind the scenes. It influences the matchmaking experience and determine what other players you will be matched against.

For CTF I believe that its CSR must be W/L based. So

Winning -> Higher CSR -> Tougher opponents the next game -> More challenges -> Improved skills

In other words: winning matters a great deal

If you want to constantly challenge yourself so as soon as visible CSR is implemented you are in position to get to level 50 (or whatever level you would be satisfied with), you should work hard from day 1 to keep your skill sharp.

For people who don’t play to win and just go for kills, imagine the embarrassment you’ll face at the moment when CSR is visible, and you are way below your friends…

You can’t expect that from such a large community. You need to take away something for losing if you want to promote winning, not just give them less of something.

The win bonus needs to be doubled.

Someone who gets it. I’m seriously getting tired of these babies whining about no incentive to win, etc.

So OP you are saying since you don’t get a pat on the back everytime you win that you might as well not play the game? This mentality of everyone wins is finally making its way into gaming. If these little kids don’t get a ribbon everytime then cry. I play fighting games to get better because I want to be the best and WIN, not because I want a reward if I do win. I play shooters because I want to be the best and WIN, not because I get a little extra reward.

I come from the Quake 3 Arena games and I have literally thousands of hours in that game. No XP, no unlockables, no customization, no ranks. You know why it was one of the most popular shooters ever? Because it was competitive without the extra incentives. Halo 4 is no different. I don’t see why people don’t get enough satisfaction from improving their game and winning. I don’t need extra incentives.

OP and anyone else crying about no incentive to win please go back to COD or wherever else you came from. This is not the community that Halo players want.

YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME.

Why is this generation of gamers so blind to the simple joy of just having fun and winning? Do you really need a -Yoinking!- cookie every time you win a game?
