I haven’t opened my game yet. It’s a good thing, because I just found out Halo 4 has no visible ranking system. I’m heading straight back to the store for a refund. I don’t even care if they’re planning one. Just the fact that they didn’t launch Halo 4 with a ranking system shows to me that 343 does not understand Halo. There is no motivation to play if there is no way to gauge how good you are in comparison to other players. You might as well just play Social Slayer on Halo 3. I don’t care about fancy armor everyone will eventually have, regardless of their skill level. This game is not COD. It’s supposed to be competitive, and Bungie understood that. Does 343 expect us to play the same matches over and over again with no incentive whatsoever? RIP Halo. It’s been a good run. If down the road the ranking system is actually good, and not some COD abomination, I’ll re-buy.

For those who don’t want to waste their lives at tournaments, yes. I have no desire to play a game with no stats worth looking at. If winning or losing is the same either way, there is no motivation.
Well… honestly you’re missing out, unless you only, ONLY, play Halo for competitive multiplayer. Even then, there’s a lot of talk for implementing the ranking system and playlists sometime in the first quarter of 2013.
By the way, what are you planning to play in the meantime or instead of this? BlOps2? Fact is, there is no true competitive shooter that comes close to Halo, IMO except Gears of War 3, though the shotguns are excessive and annoying.
And do you really expect this “protest” to change anything? The game is out. Trueskill matchmaking seems to be working more or less fine. There’s a lot of fun to be had. And if you actually want to look at the game as more than just a competitive activity, the campaign is awesome.

The point is that it’s easier to make money when everyone is happy. Everyone is happy when they are being told they are doing well, even if they aren’t. If there is no way for players to feel inferior to other players, they will continue to play and spend, because they never get discouraged; the dumb ones at least. It’s why COD is so successful. Are you negative 15 with no kills after losing the match? Doesn’t matter, you still rank up.
There is actually a thread about competitive true skill rank stickied in this forum. TheSoloPoPo, I would highly suggest you read it before posting similar threads.
If you were that competitive you’d be trying for team for something like gamebattles in the meantime until the system is released, how competitive are you? apparently not that competitive.
And considering how differently this game plays to 3/reach (A lot smoother) there’s no point rushing the game into having a ranking system, it only worked with Halo 3 purely because that was Bungie’s trilogy and they had tested it through Halo 2, this time it’s 343i and seen as how flawed the MS TrueSkill system was I’m pretty glad it’s not been rushed to be implemented.
