I played through half the campaign with a friend (he was the host). We grabbed all the terminals and skulls up to that point. 2 days later we planned on finishing the campaign and I notice that I have no progress saved. No levels unlocked and no terminals or skulls unlocked. No progress at all saved even though I have a save file (9mb in size) on my hard drive.
Is this how co op is supposed to go? Or is this a glitch/bug?? I am very frustrated right now.
Wow same for me although I only played through pillar of autumn because the lag was so horrible I decided to jump into multiplayer with my co-op buddy and what do you know when I went back to the campaign I had no save data 
Btw I was playing on legendary
It must be a bug, I started the game in co-op on Heroic, came to do some of it on Normal solo and the levels were unlocked for solo play.

What may be happening to you guys is what I have done in the past. Its very annoying and I have caught myself doing the same.
Yes, while playing it does say “saving”. But with Halo games you have to pause the game, select “save and quit”. If not it will not save anything at all.
Honestly I have no idea how Bungie let this go on for games and games of Halo but that may be what you are seeing happen to your game saves. It is simply not saving it.

I never once hit “save and quit” - neither did my friend. I have all of my campaign data; he has none.
Same problem here.
I played through a couple of levels solo then most of co-op campaign with my friend on Friday – taking time to search all the nooks and crannies… especially the crannies… for any skulls/terminals along the way. We made it to the level “Keyes” and had MOST of the skulls and every terminal found.
I just went to play more solo campaign today and all of my progress is GONE. My solo stuff is still there: first two levels, first two terminals, no skulls.
Just talked to my friend; he still has all of his data.
I was host of the game and he is the one who clicked “End Game”.
I cant believe this wasn’t caught in testing… you DID test, right 343?
