I cant afford to buy the premium battle pass so at this moment I literally have no reason to play.
killing people on the same maps over and over again has been done and played out.
people want a reason to play other than to just get on and slay, and at this current stage the progression system is still one of the worst I’ve ever experienced.
I completed all weekly’s, so for the next 8 days 21 hours is what it has on the timer I will have to play 20 games to level up once and I simply don’t have the time to waste especially when half the challenges you have to do are in BTB and it takes 10 minutes to join a single game.
Its to bad 343 took the battle pass route I get it from a business stand point but damn did it ruin the halo infinite experience for me.
Takes 10 mins to join a game? Mine is pretty much instant for BTB.
A good progression system is what is required to keep retention for the long-term but as it currently stands there isn’t much incentive to keep playing
the challenge-only progression forces you out of your preferred way to play to complete annoying challenges that are sometimes unreasonable such as mode-based challenges in which you have to get lucky that the mode shows up in matchmaking due to a lack of playlists, I can go on forever but besides having most of the customization tied to the store, there isn’t much to tempt people to return to the game long-term.
aside from playing the game? Thats the problem with your type. You guys think the only thing that matters is playing dress up and its an end all be all. Where did the happiness of winning or being good or just having fun go away for these pointless grinds that no one but yourself cares about?
You guys are the reason why companies are doing this -Yoink!-, i bet you all bought a battle pass too
I don’t want cosmetics. It’s like dresses for a doll. I keep my Spartan pretty much stock.
I can see how much xp I’ve earned. If I want to play ranked matches I can. I chose not to as I’m not that great at game.
If want progression, play ranked. Or simply play for fun until they turn it around, hopefully on 8 December. Or play to practice.
In my opinion it’s both sides. You cannot see this black and white. Its both worlds which 343i must satisfy.
I for myself am enjoying the game pretty much, I want to get better and maybe rank up. But unlocking cosmetics while playing is also a source of motivation for me.
343i must find a way to balance this out, and I’m sure they will make changes to the system but this will take some time.
(in grumpy old grandpa voice) Boy, back in my day we got a game and we played it just to play it. We didn’t have any fancy unlocks or online pvp. If we wanted to play together we had to all be at the same house and we had to be rich to have more than one controller. We didn’t have any fancy smanchy updates. The game you got was the game you got. If it sucked it would always suck. If it was broken it would always be broken. Also we had to pay for the game. We had to walk uphill to a store with our $60 stuffed in our wallets and we had to hope the store actually had the game. If we were lucky we could fight with the other kids in the store to play a demo of the game in the store. You kids these days have things too easy. Be happy with what you get to play for free. Don’t worry about useless cosmetics. They will likely add some stuff later for you kids to unlock without any extra $. Just don’t worry about the cosmetics. It builds character!

well tbh…there are too few modes in the game right now to make it fun.
Im not saying the game is boring. it only feels a bit shallow compared to the other games.
Back in the days, it was never about the armor or the color…it was about the gameplay and the fun factor you had on those modes. Then Halo 3 came and changed that formula. You got respect for having X armor like the Recon. Then Halo 5 came with the ReQ packs… People stopped caring for what armor you have. People start saying…that guy only got that armor from spending money …same thing goes to Halo Infinite…no one care what armor you go around with.
But i do understand you that you want your spartan to look cool. I do agree with you that 343i should made a better progression system that is not tied behind a paywall…and i think the way Halo 3 did by unlocking achivements was the best system. Halo infinite should have a similar system there you unlock from doing certain things in Halo Infinite and MCC… like for example beating all halo games on LASO, and you get this very very nice looking armor.
