It was a Halo 3 thing and in many ways Infinite seeks to be a spiritual successor to that game. I’m rocking mine and enjoying it.
They did it in Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Reach, and Halo 2 Anniversary, all of those games had lesser technology and probably less of a budget.
I’m 100% sure they could add them here.
This is nothing new dude. the Hayabusa armor set in Halo 3 was Ninja based, specifically based on Hayabusa from the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden series. I want Elites myself, but give them some time, they will come eventually. The devs seem very money focused, so if they can sell us Elites as microtransactions, they will.
$$$hh
You’ll $poil the $urpri$e for $eason 2 fracture event
They did it in Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Reach, and Halo 2 Anniversary
And games are vastly more expensive now than they were back then. They could do it absolutely, but if you want an elite with the same level of fidelity as a Spartan player, you’re literally asking for animators and artists to double their workload.
all of those games had lesser technology and probably less of a budget.
So is the answer for them to hire a bunch of contract artists JUST to get elites in multiplayer and then end their contract once they’re in the game?
Good points,
However we all know that if elites were added they definitely wouldn’t have the same level of customization as spartans.
They are going to add tons and tons and tons of spartan armor, and if we got playable elites there would he no way they’d have nearly as many armors to match, if they are willing to put in the sheer amount of spartan armors over a 10 year period I’m pretty sure they could do playable elites and give them less than half of the amount of spartan armors.
I never said that they should hire people and then end their contract once their out. No where in my post above states this.
A helmet version of a mark vi not a baggy daft looking under suit, I wouldn’t mind it if it was attachments and armour parts but the suit etc just doesn’t do it for me! The undersuits meant to be a tight eco suit not a 6 year old wearing his dads shirt
Legends isn’t canon to the games.
That’s great and all but,
They’d still need to make a whole new set of hitboxes for said elite core, they’d have to make a whole new system to support the elite core because right of the get go, elites don’t have visors… they’d have to make a whole new mesh for the connection points for the knees, chassis, and whatever else.
And the point that you missed on my end:
Say they make the elite core, what then? What if they want to add something for a certain season, event, or content launch, you have the base elite core, but what if what they wanted to do requires them to make an additional core?
They can’t just throw everything they want onto the same core without problems, (Imagine trying to fit Jorge’s chest piece onto Yoroi, it wouldn’t look good), the same is going to apply to elites.
They can’t just make 1 core and be done with it, this is a live service game, people are going to want more elite content, people are going to want it to be a core part of the game.
And there’s no real point in adding 1 elite set and then forgetting about it when their resources could be allocated elsewhere.
As someone who has always played elites in every version that has been available, I would definitely be in favour of an elite armour core.
There needs to be at least some measure of cross compatibility of parts between armour cores otherwise there is no incentive for completion of capstone challenges if it doesn’t fit your chosen armour core.
Core should be something like Spartan vs Elite vs Brute vs Flood, Mark V vs Mark VII as cores doesn’t make sense.
If only i could reach a broader audience… Anyways, none of those armors were a problem for most players because of a few things working in tandem to make them believable. And if some people had problems with them they were in the wrong, heres why:
-
The armors were unlocked, not given away. This one is the least important but it helps, especially considering that almost every armor set in halo 3 is unlocked by some means. To get hayabusa you had to collect all 13 skulls in the campaign. This does 2 things: Rewards players who take their time to go through these tasks and also limits the pool of people wearing the armor (because not everyone is going to do it). The same goes for the katana and achilles. These armors were not bought, they were not part of a battlepass, they were earned and it vastly limited how many people had it.
-
They were believable. None of the armors were outside the realm of possibility in halo. Fotus was goofy, but it was still built around mark vi. Yoroi armor is literally a samurai from the 15th century, you are not a spartan. None of the prior armor sets did this, they all kept their spartan silhouette. This to me is the bigger problem, but then you add the fact that simply anyone can wear this armor and you have feudal japan in halo with everyone running around as samurai.
Don’t believe what people are saying about increasing player expression. There is a reason these things were set with limitations in the past. Look at games like modern warfare, team fortress, or destiny, etc. You can easily ruin a games overall aesthetic by adding in garbage like this. What’s next? A spartan in a suit and tie?
Making different sized hitboxes in a competitive game, and how would that go? Look at Apex legends, their devs regret making different hitboxes because it makes balancing a headache
-
I agree with you on this point, but armors being unlocked v.s. purchased is a whole different discussion and a whole new can of worms. Just because you had to put in effort to unlocking Hayabusa doesn’t detract from the fact it was a well liked set of armor that, a set that resulted in space samurai running around.
-
These armors aren’t possible in halo, you’re right, that’s why they’re called fractures, that’s why they’re non-cannon, that’s why they have their own mini stories, that’s probably part of the reason they don’t fit the silhouette, and to actually prove your point here, we have a christmas event and a cybermohawk coming up, so we’re already going to have some ridiculous looking spartans, whether this is because the armor themselves don’t fit or because they’re are going to be so many meshing things due to this being a marketable live service doesn’t do much to help.
But both of those points don’t help contribute to the original argument that it’s a helluva lot less work to put in space samurai than a fully backed alternate species.
Yes, I’m well aware that this game is clearly not about player freedom of expression given how every expression must be bought and I’m not happy about that and I have voiced it many times.
Absolutely not. You replied to the op saying that hayabusa was an equally outlandish armor as the fractures. Unless i’m missing something here.
It does, read my post again for clarification.
= “That’s why they shouldn’t be in the game.” Not sure if you’re agreeing with me here though.
Never once did I mention the elites. Although, it’s really not as much work as you think. Bungie was able to do it, and even 343 did it in halo 2A.
- I was agreeing with unlocking Hayabusa being rewading once unlocking it, apologies for the lack of clarity.
Disagreement occurs when the medium through which it’s eanred is brought up, feat or not, the armor is still in the game. - Limiting the armor does nothing, you still have space samurai running around, just because there are less doesn’t change that fact.
- I’m agreeing with you in the sense that they aren’t “halo”, countering that point by reminding you that they’re fractures and considered non-cannon, 343 knows this and has made it public knowledge, saying it doesn’t belong or fits the silhouette is stating the obvious.
You may have not mentioned the elites, but that’s the entire point of this particular post, OP finds it unreasonable there are space Samurai but no Elites. That’s why we’re debating in the first place.
Edit: And comparing Halo 2 anniversaries limited cosmetics to every single option that’s been offered in Halo infinites, is… well, there’s a vast difference that brings us back to the original point, Yaroi is more practical to put in the game than setting up Elites.
You do realize the aesthetic of haybusa is more inline with the halo universe than these Yoroi armors…… ? Like it’s pretty obvious these armor cores do not match this universe at all……
That’s crazy, it’s almost like 343 said fractures were non-cannon and have no intention of fitting in.
Now I really hope the events won’t always feature some weird stuff. I like Halo and I like Samurai, just not in the same game.
But with what we have seen so far, I wouldn’t be surprised if 343 will put dance animations and other “funny” stuff into Halo.
I get it, f2p and gaining new players and all that. But don’t make all us Halo veterans cringe with any christmas themed armor or playable elves.
TLDR: Don’t let this game become a space fortnite.
Keep Halo serious and thoughtful.
