I just watched the Covenant weapons trailer for Halo 4, and didn’t spot the Plasma Rifle anywhere. How could you get rid of the good old Plasma Rifle?! It’s a classic, it’s been all five Halo games!
This saddens me greatly :’(

Yeah, it was replaced by the Storm Rifle, which dissopints a some people.
The Storm Rifle is the new iteration of the Plasma Rifle. While it is more akin to the Plasma Repeater, it still fills the role of the plasma rifle from previous titles.

I remember it being one of the best guns in Halo: Combat Evolved, and since then it’s gradually gotten weaker and weaker throughout the games.
I think they should of just beefed it back up to it’s former glory instead of replacing it with the Storm Rifle.
I kno i feel the same i loved the plasma rifle but cuz of that im gonna use the storm rifle just as much as i used the plasma rifle, it was more powerful then ar thx to no reload just overheat which is so easy to control 
Plasma Rifle was my favorite weapon.
At least the storm rifle looks like it works better than the repeater. But the plamsa rifle really only retained its usefulness after CE due to dual weilding. Without it the plasma rifle is now worthless.
I wish they hadn’t stuck in a barrel and added a pointless unusable scope. It seems to work generally in the same fashion as the PR, so I don’t get why they have to dramatically alter the appearance.
Why they didn’t just bring back an reincarnation of the CE Plasma Rifle, I’ll never know.
The removal of the iconic Plasma Rifle was a huge mistake on 343i’s part. The ugly and useless Storm Rifle just doesn’t cut it as a replacement I’m afraid. I don’t understand why 343i didn’t include the Plasma Rifle in Forge and Custom Games, at least, since they’re supposed to be a customizable experience.
I’m also a little very sad it didn’t return. The plasma rifle in CE was my second favourite weapon to use. It was the perfect closing distance weapon for me since it had a kind of stun effect that slowed the other player down.
I know(not personally) someone else who is also not pleased with the removal of the PR.

im actually dissapointed that it was nearly replaced in reach (by the plasma repeater) and that now its being replaced entirely by the storm rifle. i remeber always playing split screen with my freinds and beating them with the plasma rifle, and them being like “What is dat gun?”. plasma rifle FTW

I honestly think the Storm Rifle looks and fights better now.
Yeah, I’m sad to see the PR not make it to the game. It is an iconic weapon in Halo. They should’ve made the Storm rifle the covenat equivalent to the SAW and had the PR to the AR. But I won’t say the the Storm rifle will suck and I’m sure we will move on. Looks like it’s gonna be better than the Plasma Repeater anyway.
Oh well…at least we still have the Needler.
Plasma Rifle was kind of like a Covy SMG
Plasma Repeater was kind of like a Covy Assault Rifle
Storm Rifle is pretty much a Covy Assault that is similar to the Plasma Rifle.
So if you think about it , it’s is still there , though with a different look.
Just like how the Brute Shot is kinda still there as the Concussion Rifle (though they are kinda different but they do the same thing in general).
343i wanted a New Covie weapon (as UNSC and Promethean had new weaps), and the PR was the best scapegoat they could find.
Seriously, they and Bungie ill-manage the PR in H4 and Reach. Both could have just buff the PR to AR-style status and eventually it becomes the glory it was originally in Halo: CE.
